Configuration of Joomla [] SMF: Absolute Location Path
« on: August 13, 2006, 09:34:40 PM »

Hello,

I'm sure this question has been asked a dozen times, if not more, but I've searched the forum and found numerous related questions, but majority of these treads I have found have not yet been responded with help to their questions.  Figured I'd make another attempt and see if someone might be able to assist me.

I've installed SMF and I've installed the Component, and now I'm trying to Configure the Component, but without much success.

Every time I type in the Absolute Location Path, it says it's not correct.  Although when I go into my FTP and double check it, it's right.  /public_html/tribes/forum should be what it is but doesn't work.

I've tried home/mysite/public_html/tribes/forum and many different variations but everytime without success.

What exactly am I doing wrong that the Path is incorrect every time I attempt to do it right?  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Sincerely,
Bryce

Do you have DirectAdmin access?

Hello,

Not sure what you mean by DirectAdmin access.  I've access to my Cpanel if that's what you mean, this is a domain website, not a subdomain FREE website or anything.  Not sure if that answers your question or not.

I appreciate the response!

Sincerely,
Bryce

Try the file manager inside Cpanel - it has helped me before to figure out the full path.

by the way, veryify also that your SMF is functioning correctly stand-alone at www.yourdomain.com/forum/index.php.

Kai,

Thanks again for your reply.

I've tried using the File Manager in my Cpanel to identify what would be the correct full path, which is what I put into the Configuration area of SMF.  Nothing happened!  I also checked out the stand alone version of SMF and it works perfectly, I just can't seem to get the absolute path to work.

I've contacted my hosting services, so hopefully they'll be able to help me out a little more.

Again, thanks a lot for your kindness in helping.

Sincerely,
Bryce
