Hi... thanks for your article  Smiley

It looks quite promising. Before i try it, one question:

With this component/system, i can still store and manage all my ads locally without requiring another Ads server/company to be involved?

I just need a good way of managing my own adds but without other's company's intervention(except maybe allowing the customers to check the stats of their ads)

Is this for me or shall i keep on hoping there comes a nice customizable component for Joomla, which is better than the core ads component and its derivations?

Cheers and thanks for your help,
NiCo

P.D: The feature i would be mostly interested in would definetely be to be able to set certain ads to be shown only when a certain language is chosen but. Haven't found any that does that so far :-(

The concept of phpAdsNew is "Advertisers" and "Publishers". You can setup as many as you want and you can manage all of it by yourself if you want. If you have a 3rd party advertiser, you can send him the account login so that advertiser can check his campaign/ads statistics. You can also have a 3rd party publisher to login and setup his own zones... etc...

This is good for users:
- who runs multiple sites.. so ads can be manage from one location.
- who wants CPM and per CLICKS ad rates...
- who wants 3rd party advertisers and publishers involvement

phpAdsNew got a long list of features, like day/time restriction on showing ads, ad weights, etc.... just read the documentation.

The language feature you're looking for is really "GEO Targetting" which is also available. GEO targetting means, you can set ads to show to visitors residing in geographies you specify. For example, an ad will only show to visitors living in USA (i think up to state and city level - i'm not sure). Therefore you can also determine the language base on visitor geography.

Hi, cowboy!

Thanks for this article. You say:
Quote
Here is a quick tip on how to integrate phpAdsNew to Joomla.

So, by doing what is advised in the article, I would have the phpAdsNew installed on ads.joomla.dom show up as a component on joomla.dom, is that the case? And there will be no need for Publishers and Advertisers to register on ads.joomla.dom - they could be registered members of joomla.dom, yes or no? And phpAdsNew can be installed in a different DB too, the integration will still work or not?

I am asking this because I've got probably the wrong impression that what you suggest is a full integration of the program phpAdsNew, not an integration of the ads generated by the program.

TIA

Thanks for the article, but I'm having some problems with this. I've been using phpAdsNew for a few years and currently have a banner running on my existing site. I'm setting up a joomla site on the same server and attempted to get the same banner running with same invocation code.

But it's not working. I first tested KL evalPHP in the top module and it displayed "Hello World" just fine. I then copied KL evalPHP and renamed it "phpAdsNew banner" and pasted the invocation code that's running on the rest of my site. I removed the php opening and closing tags, and also set the path to "/home/sites/www.mysite.net/web/phpAdsNew/phpadsnew.inc.php". I changed the path after the original didn't work.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Andrew

Okay this is weird, but now it's working. I'm not sure what I did, but when I made my previous post nothing was displaying. Then I tried something else and was getting a parse error message, and then I copied the code again without the full path and now it's working. I'm not sure what I did, but I'm glad it works.

Cheers,

Andrew

I found your article with a quick search on google. I followed your instructions and to my joy it worked like a charm.

I am now trying to use the mambot and put ads in my content too, but that is not working yet.
Have you tried it and got it to work? If so could you please give me a hint on how it is done?

I am using phpAdsNew 2.0.9-pr1, joomla 1.0.11, php 4.4.4 and mysql 4.1.21-standard-log and kl_php bot and jce editor

I tried the installation like described in the article but I only get the following error message:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '{' in /usr/httpd_data/pro/www.isurf.ch/www/cms/modules/mod_phpadsnew_468x60.php(27) : eval()'d code on line 1

What's the matter with this { ?

Hi:

I tried the mod_KL_php but can't make it work.

I have PhpAdsNew installed in ads.multipleweb.com (www.multipleweb.com/ads)
The Joomla site is installed in www.MesonesGastronomicos.com
Both are in the same server.

These are the steps I followed:

1-Generated the PhpAdsNew invocation code for a banner (468x60) as:
<?php
    if (@include(getenv('DOCUMENT_ROOT').'/ads/phpadsnew.inc.php')) {
        if (!isset($phpAds_context)) $phpAds_context = array();
        $phpAds_raw = view_raw ('zone:1', 0, '', '', '0', $phpAds_context);
        echo $phpAds_raw['html'];
    }
?>

2-Installed mod_KL_php as module in the Joomla site
3-Renamed the mod_KL_php to banners3 and assigned the banner position.
4-Choose Local Mode
5-Pasted invocation code in the PHP script area
6-deleted the php opening/closing tags /<?php ?>/
7-modified the PATH in the invocation code as follows:

if (@include(getenv('/home/multiple/public_html').'/ads/phpadsnew.inc.php')) {
        if (!isset($phpAds_context)) $phpAds_context = array();
        $phpAds_raw = view_raw ('zone:1', 0, '', '', '1', $phpAds_context);
        echo $phpAds_raw['html'];
    }

8-check Published.
9-Save

It doesn't work. I have read everything and did a lot of testing for so many hours before posting this.
Any help will be APPRECIATED!!!

Hi:
Still struggling with Joomla and PhpAdsNew!!!

Now I'm getting the following parse error message:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ')' in /home/mesonesg/public_html/modules/mod_kl_evalphp.php(27) : eval()'d code on line 1

My code in the php script field of KL_evalphp is the following:

if (@include('/home/multiple/public_html').'/ads/phpadsnew.inc.php')) {
        if (!isset($phpAds_context)) $phpAds_context = array();
        $phpAds_raw = view_raw ('zone:2', 0, '', '', '0', $phpAds_context);
        echo $phpAds_raw['html'];
    }

PhpAdsNew is installed in www.multipleweb.com/ads and its home directory is /home/multiple/public_html/ads

The Joomla site is in www.MesonesGastronomicos.com
Both sites are in the same server.

Any clues?Huh??
Thanks

Thanx for the great article. I have been using phpAdsNew for quite some time now, but more for my own ads, simple cause I use them on multiple domains, so it's nice to have central place to manage ads.

One thing I'd really like to have / see / make is a way for clients to sign up for ad space on my Joomla site, and then, upon payment, their details should automatically be created in the phpAdsNew system, and emailed to them.

Another option, which could be swell, especially for banner / link exchanges, is to be able to see if the client has a banner from your site on their site, if not, it could disable their compaign. - but I suppose this is more something to ask the phpAdsNew ppl Smiley
