Making OpenSEF and JSMF Bridge work together well
« on: June 14, 2006, 05:50:33 AM »

Please have a look at this topic at open-sef for a simple way to make the smf-sef addresses even more short and easy to remember.

P.S. Sorry, I didn't realize there is a separate SEO forum here. Could you please move this topic up there.

I've been wanting to work on this in the past. But it looks like predator already got it. I'm just unsure how the bridge will work with it.

cowboy,

We have found that support of the component developer is key to advanced SEF capabilities for any 3PD component. Thus I would encourage you to look at the SEF issue more closely.

Predator's sef_ext.php file is designed to work with the Orstio SMF bridge component which we use on the OpenSEF web site (thus I doubt it will work with the JoomlaHacks bridge without modification)). Orstio has shown no interest in doing the work to make the bridge work with any advanced SEF component (see SMF forum).

I came to this forum today because an OpenSEF user posted their web site in our "Sites Using OpenSEF" forum and they are using the JoomlaHacks bridge. While reviewing the site (www.joomla-austria.at/forum/), I noticed that the OpenSEF component aliasing (/forum/) is working throughout the forum on that web site. That is good news. So I came here to see what is happening with advanced SEF support with the JoomlaHacks SMF Bridge component.

This OpenSEF component alias does not work with the other bridge (which is why we have it currently set to off on the OpenSEF web site).

I am wondering if you have already solved some of SMF bridge SEF issues with the JoomlaHacks SMF bridge which would make full SEF support with OpenSEF easier to achieve with your bridge.

We would like to see a working SMF bridge which has full support for OpenSEF advanced SEF URLs and we are not married to any particular bridge. If you are interested, you may want to contact Marko directly and work together with him on a solution.

Regards,

Ken McDonald

I am realy interested to combine the OpenSEF with the SMF of joomlahacks. The website of OpenSEF is not working anymore for a long time. Can somebodey help us with this? Who has the hack and the instructions still available?
