need help with .htaccess file
« on: June 13, 2006, 05:36:56 PM »

I had to install Joomla into a sub-directory of my root due to the fact that I was running a PHP-Nuke site prior to the install and I needed to maintain the database since it had over 400 reviews in it. But my problem now is this. When I try to use the SEO option in Joomla as soon as I change the htaccess.txt file to .htaccess my I can no longer access my web site.  I think it has something to do with the fact that Joomla is not installed in the root directory and the mod re-write is attempting to do it to files that aren't there.

Then on the other hand I could be completely nuts to.  I am hoping someone can lend me a hand on figuring out a way to fix the .htaccess file without having to do a complete install in the root of my site.  Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks
Langhi

I've just encountered the same problem. I'm currently searching for answers - will post here if/when I find any.

Make a subdomain out of your joomla directory.

What kind of mod_r are you using on Nuke - GT or Googlifier?

I've written an article about this in the past...
http://www.joomlahacks.com/content/view/154/64/

Try doing this in your .htaccess:

RewriteBase /<joomla_install_path>

e.g.:
RewriteBase /joomla

it worked thanks a bunch, but I had to add one more slash to get it to work.

RewriteBase /Joomla/
