Various Questions
« on: June 10, 2006, 05:59:15 AM »

Hello there,
I run joomla 1.0.9 and smf 1.1 RC 2.
I've installed the bridge and it works fine. I have some questions though:
With the bridge, the only thing that happens is that when someone registers he is copied to the joomla or smf database? For example if someone changes his name what happens? Does he have to manually change his info on both joomla and smf? Is there a way to make this automatically?

Also, is it possible to change the registration form and not ask for a name? Cause all i need is just a username.

Is there any virtual confirmation mod that secures the site from automated bots?

Thank you very much!

currently this funcitonality isn't implemented in the bridge.  So yes, he would have to change it in both systems.  Yes there is a way to make it automatic and it is on the list of items for future releases.  No ETA at this point.
Also, is it possible to change the registration form and not ask for a name? Cause all i need is just a username.
The next release will offer the option of synchronizing real names or usernames from Joomla to SMF.  So even if they enter real names, the bridge will only synchronize usernames to SMF(if selected).
Is there any virtual confirmation mod that secures the site from automated bots?
Enable email confirmation for registration in either Joomla or SMF, depending on which registration system you are using.

The name in Joomla is what is displayed on Joomla login module and in submitted content/links/blogs.  You can modify the the joomla registration and send in username as both realname and username.  Or you can simply use SMF registration although the bridge does only a sufficient job with that.

I did notice that if you update account info in SMF first, the update in Joomla is made.  However updating in Joomla first does nothing to the SMF account.

Hi,

I'm actually using :

Joomla 1.0.10
CB : 1.0.1
SMF Bridge : 1.1.4.2
Registration : CB

I have the same issue as many other people with the "real name vs username".

Since no solution is provided for now to solve that problem, how can i put only one field and have the username be used for the RN and the UN.

Thanks a lot for the help.

same here with bridge 2.0 beta3. I also would need this feature because I use only CB profile and have registered members of a little community in the backend. People should change their name by themselves and it would be much easyier to do this in CB profile.

Is there a workaround  Huh

ETA when this feature will be implemented in the bridge? Or does is in work in 2.0 now and I havent found it Shocked

thanx a lot
