Joomla-SMF Official upgrade to J!1.0.9 instructions
« on: June 05, 2006, 11:20:15 PM »

Please update to 1.1.3 for J! 1.0.9 compatability!

Get 1.1.3 here

I have tested J!1.0.9 with JSMF 1.1.2 and as unliving sava has pointed out there is a problem when SEF is enabled.  Unfortunately there is no quick fix for this except to revert your includes/sef.php back to the J!1.0.8 version.

In order to use J!1.0.9 with JSMF 1.1.2 you need to follow these instructions.

  • Login to J! 1.0.x Administrator
  • Select Components->Joomla-SMF Forum->Configuration
  • Click [un-patch] in front of the text 'Patch Joomla Source Files.'
  • Patch your J! install to J!1.0.9
  • Make a backup of the file administrator/components/com_smf/smf.class.php
  • Download the attached file (smf.class.php.zip) and unzip it to administrator/components/com_smf/
  • Login to J! 1.0.9 Administrator
  • Select Components->Joomla-SMF Forum->Configuration
  • Click click to patch in front of the text 'Patch Joomla Source Files.'

If you have SEO enabled, revert the J!1.0.9 version of includes/sef.php to the J!1.0.8 version.

I am are very close to releasing 1.1.3 and I am going to work hard to get these SEF problems resolved in that version as soon as possible.

Thanks to unliving sava and the others for preliminarily investigating the incompatibilities!  Sorry I have not had the time to test prior to the release.  Sad

How exactly do these instructions differ if the 1.0.9 patch has already been applied?

EDIT: Nevermind - Fixed  Smiley

That fixed the Patch Joomla Source Files problem, but now I am having the same problem when I try to Patch SMF Source Files. I get the error:

Failed: Code to be patched not found in file: /*edited*/htdocs/cspmag/forum/index.php

Thoughts?

I did upload the new fresh files before attemtping all of these changes, so maybe something happened in the interim. Just for kicks, I replaced it with the original SMF RC2 file and was able to patch. -Thanks.

Now onto another problem. I'm trying to comb through the forums before I bother you again.

Hi, I applied the above mentioned but am using SEFAdvance.
Everything seems to work fine except when I actually click a topic in SMF which throws a 404 error. Any ideas why this happens? Is there a way to exclude SMF from SEO?

Thanks to anyone who may be able to help. Wish I would have looked here before I updated J! O well..

What exactly do you mean by "moved totally"Huh  It looks fine to me...

SMF in Joomla means SMF is going to be 'wrapped' inside joomla...

Have I misunderstood your question?

I see now - it could be a CSS issue.  Have you "merged" your SMF + Joomla CSS files?

I noticed this same thing when I upgraded Joomla, but I was running SMF RC1. When I upgraded to RC2 (and thus upgraded the bridge, login mod and recent post mod), it seemed to rectify itself.

What version of SMF are you running?

Yes,
Seems like same issue I experienced here:
http://www.joomlahacks.com/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,94/topic,1746.0

I have not found a solution yet.
Recommendations?

I had the same problem and had to start over.
I think the problem was that I had to patch the Joomla 1.0.9 files and THEN upload the patch. The sef thing made no differnce to me because I'm using SefAdvance in which I ended up having to write a workaround to bypass SMF sef URL's entirely.
