confused between joomla-smf and mambo-smf and related problem
« on: April 18, 2006, 12:08:25 PM »

Hi,

Version Information:

    * Mambo Version : 4.5.3h
    * SMF Version : 1.1RC2
    * Joomla-SMF Forum Integration Version : 1.1 Final
    * PHP Version : 5.0.4
    * Apache : 1.3.34

I have been having problem with mambo-smf integration since installing both from fresh. There seems to be 3 development on mambo-smf integration that I can't seems to get anyone to work. Even tried one with step1,step2,step3 and step4 and so on.

Currently trying joomla-SMF which I don't know what is the difference with mambo-SMF. Cause I see from joomla-SMF documentation that it also works in mambo and that it is most updated compared to mambo-smf (which I also tried and doesn't work) which is last update in 2005.

I keep having problems with sending out emails from SMF. Like for example for new users registrations where authentication email need to be send out.

Fatal error: sendmail() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/administrator/components/com_smf/config.smf.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/mytechfo/public_html/forum/Sources/Subs-Post.php on line 511

I have checked config.smf.php file and it's already 777. I even tried using sendmail and SMTP and both instance cause same error.

Can I know which script is actually the best for mambo-SMF integration for my version?

What's the difference between joomla and mambo anyway? mambo or joomla sites doesn't say, mambohacks or joomlahacks doesn't say, mamboforge or joomlaforge doesn't say....

Thanks in advance.

Joomla-SMF is the continuation of Mambo-SMF and is the most up to date.  The current version is 1.1.02 that can be downloaded here:

http://www.joomlahacks.com/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,94/topic,1569.0

For a discussion on the difference between Mambo and Joomla refer to this:

http://news.com.com/Open-source+split+of+Mambo+software+begins/2100-7344_3-5846006.html?tag=cd.top

In regards to your error, first try 1.1.02 and if that fails let me know and I can guide you through fixing it.

i already installed 1.1.02 by removing 1.1 and then install 1.1.02 but still have the same error when trying to send out emails for new users and so on.

Fatal error: sendmail() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/administrator/components/com_smf/config.smf.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/mytechfo/public_html/forum/Sources/Subs-Post.php on line 511

Open this file /home/mytechfo/public_html/forum/Sources/Subs-Post.php and on line 511 change the code from:

Code:
require_once($mosConfig_absolute_path.'/administrator/components/com_smf/config.smf.php');

to

Code:
require_once('/home/mytechfo/public_html/administrator/components/com_smf/config.smf.php');

that should do it...
