Synchronize Users
« on: March 07, 2006, 04:30:08 PM »

Hi, had a slight problem today and noticed that the Joomla-SMF bridge can't synchronize user names with underscores along with other characters. Ive some searching on the forums and noticed its a common problem?

Will this do my site any damage? ive disabled site login on the frontpage and turned Joomla-SMF registration module to use SMF.

Are their are current work arounds that don't require me to go through each member using Phpmyadmin?

Regards!

Not at this point, but it is being investigated for future releases. There are incompatibilities between what SMF will allow and what Joomla will allow.

Thats fine, the problem I did have was new users signing up to Joonmla and the being unable to login into the forums - will it cause any problems in setting Joomla to use SMF registration module?

(also in regards to my other topic, SMF/Joomla still log out after a while)

Regards!

I noticed that whenever I try to syncronize I get the following error:

Code:
Syncing username SunLite Failed! This e-mail is already registered. If you forgot the password click on \"Lost your Password\" and new password will be sent to you.

Any thoughts? Thanks

you have the same email for two different users.  Joomla doesn't allow this.

Wolverine,

Thanks for the reply but nope, I searched for the username SunLite and found that they used the email xxxx@SunLite.ca (used x's to protect the person) then did a search of all tables in the database for that email and it shows up once in jos_users and once in smf_members so no dupes. I wonder if this is some of the cause of the other login and sync problems that I am having? I am begining to think that I am going to have to wipe out and start over. At the moment all new registration are not getting into SMF and there is now no way to put them in as the sync does not work either, my site is effectivly down for the count...

are the usernames in line for these two users?  if they don't match exactly then the sync would try to add a separate entry for both in each respective table.
