Messed up the whole site
« on: March 05, 2006, 02:26:59 AM »

Well I definitly did something wrong. This is what my site says now...
www.thedieclan.com/joomla

Warning: main(/home/thediecl/public_html/joomla/forums/SSI.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/thediecl/public_html/joomla/index.php on line 33

Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required '/home/thediecl/public_html/joomla/forums/SSI.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/thediecl/public_html/joomla/index.php on line 33

When trying to install the forums I couldn't figure out the absolute path. The instructions said it should be ...blah/forums but when i installed smf it never installed a forums folder. So I just left it ...blah/forums even though it said incorrect path. Then I changed smf_ to jos_ because it said to make it the same as my joomla and it said it was successful. Then I patched stuff. Then I check to see if I had forums and I got that error on every page and I can't log into admin.

Please help... Thanks,
Chris

Hi,
I strongly suspect you have installed smf in the wrong folder. I strongly suggest also that you totally remove joomla and smf, and reinstall.

Try this:
log into ftp and remove the folder joomla and smf
remove all joomla tables (jos_) and smf table (smf_)
go the root folder and create a new folder "joomla"
go into this new folder (joomla) and create a new folder "forums"
chmod these 2 folders to 777
copy the joomla into the folder "joomla"
install joomla with the table prefix jos_
remove the joomla installation folder and files
copy the smf files into the folder "joomla/forums"
install smf with the table prefix smf_ (in the same database as the joomla tables. DO NOT CHANGE THIS ANYWHERE IN THE FUTURE. you will NOT be required to do that)
remove the smf installation folder and files
install the smf login module available here from joomlahacks
install the joomla-smf forums bridge component available here from joomlahacks
go to the module list, unpublish the default joomla login module, and enable the new smf login module you just installed
go to the joomla-smf bridge config
refer to this post for instructions on how to config the bridge.
also refer to the readme file that came with the bridge download

hope this helps Smiley

ok beofore I go and screw things up again...

I'm about to install smf v1.0.5

I reinstalled joomla and it's back to normal

after I install smf I'm going to install the login module

After installing that I'm going to install the smf bridge. I will keep the lable smf_ as is. This should work right?

EDIT: Ok I went ahead and did it. Everything turned out ok. Im configuring it right now and it says SMF Database Prefix is a incorrect prefix. You told me to keep it as smf_ though

EDIT again: I figured everything out... Thanks
