Is this normal behaviour?
« on: February 28, 2006, 01:42:46 AM »

I did a clean install of the following:

Joomla 1.0.8
SMF 1.1 RC2
SMF-Joomla 1.1 RC1 bridge
mod_smf_login_1.4
mod_smf_recent_topics_1.6.3
mod_smf_whos_online_ext_1.2

I followed everything according to the installation procedures. Unpatched SMF before installed the mods mentioned above then re-patched it. According to the SMF-Joomla Configuration Page, everything is installed correctly.

I am able to login via Joomla and I show up logged in both Joomla and SMF.
I am able to login via SMF and I show up logged in both SMF and Joomla.
If I logoff, I appear logged off on both Joomla and SMF. Everything ir working PERFECTLY.

Ok, what I want to know if it's normal behaviour, is the following:

1. When I'm logged in, if I close my browser and immediately open a new browser window, I will appear LOGGED OFF. Is this normal? I mean, if I check REMEMBER ME before logging in, shouldn't the browser automatically log me in, once I come to my website?

Thanks for any help on this. BTW, I have Firefox 1.5.0.1

nope it's not normal behavior. i'm using firefox too and i've never had such problems. what i can suggest, though, is to clear your cookies, then check if you have cookies enabled (Allow site to set Cookies in Tools > Options) and that your site is not in the exception list. Also, uncheck the 2 checkboxes below.

if this does not work, i dont know what will

Thanks for the reply, my friend. Ok, I checked the cookie setting on FF, and everything is normal. As a matter of fact, logins work perfectly on this site and any other site I visit. The problem lies on my Joomla 1.0.8 | SMF 1.1 RC2 | SMF-Joomla 1.1 RC1 bridge install.

Could it be a setting on SMF? I have the following cookie related settings in SMF:

Default login cookies length (in minutes): 60
Enable local storage of cookies: UNCHECKED
Use subdomain independent cookies: UNCHECKED
Use database driven sessions: CHECKED
Allow browsers to go back to cached pages: CHECKED
Seconds before an unused session timeout: 2880

In Joomla, I have the following selected:

Session Authentication Method: Level 3 Security - Default & Highest

Hope this helps...

Here are some suggestions which might or might not work.

You may wish to set the default login cookies length to something huge like 999999. This is so that smf will not expire before joomla.
You may wish to uncheck Use database driven sessions, but i doubt that's causing the problem.

one thing, you should probably check your error logs, which may give you clues to what's causing the problem..
