Cannot re-patch Joomla index.php after upgrade to 1.0.8
« on: February 27, 2006, 08:57:51 AM »

I've just installed the latest Joomla 1.0.8 (I'm using SMF 1.1 RC2) and am now having some problems with the bridge.

In the Joomla-SMF Forum Configuration panel all file paths are showing as writeable.

But when I click the link "click to patch Patch mambo index.php file", nothing happens, and the "click to patch" message is still there. Also, checking on the webserver, the index.php file has not been updated.

Any idea as to what is wrong?

Thanks  Smiley

Check your file permissions.

My file permissions were ok, but i eventually solved this by unpatching the SMF files, completely removing the bridge component (including manually deleting the com-smf directories), then re-installing it and re-patching everything.

All happy again now  Smiley

in the future make sure and unpatch Joomla before upgrading.  Since the patches are essentially unzipped onto existing files and not really a function of Joomla we can't write a upgrade process to handle that.

As a workaround, if you forget to patch, remove the index.php.~jsfbak~ file and the bridge will see the index as unpatched.  Then you can click to patch again.  That should work but is not the recommended method.   Wink
