It sounds like the current Joomla-SMF Forum won't work after patched to 1.0.8.....

And it appears to be working on my PC-based test site. I just had to go into the Joomla-SMF Bridge configuration and make sure I repatched stuff (by simply clicking on the links provided). Prior to doing that the act of copying the patch files over to my existing 1.0.7 site caused the users login menu on my home page to change. Repatching the Bridge configuration caused the login menu to revert to the preferred JoomlaHacks version.
Upgrading fixed my login issues I was having with the new joomla smf bridge. It works fine with the reg login & screwed up the bridge login & the recent topics mod, but Im still happy with the overall improvements
Has anyone had success with bridging to SMF using a new install of Joomla 1.08 rather than upgrading?
Is there much of a problem installing a new Joomla with a running SMF board?
Any advice much appreciated... I was using Xoops, gave it away after trying to bridge it to SMF ... to many login problems. I could not stay with xoops as its forum is so ugly. SMF rocks. I now want to give Joomla a go.
Shouldn't be a problem Diana. Just install Joomla 1.0.8, then SMF 1.1RC2, then the latest Joomla-SMF bridge 1.1RC1. Then make sure and do the configuration tasks in the Joomla-SMF administration page.

Yup, exactly what I did! I did a clean install of Joomla 1.0.8, then installed SMF 1.1 RC2, THEN installed the 1.1.2 SMF bridge. Everything is working nicely!
Hi, I'm running Joomla 1.0.8; SMF1.1RC2 and COM-JSMF1.1 (everything completely new installed). These are my first trys with SMF, so I don't know, if it's my fault or general Problems. Unfortunately, it's not running as it should. The Integration seems ok, but I have some login problems. when i try to login a user in smf, i get an errormessage, saying "Incorrect username or password. Please try again" What could I do to fix that? It would be ok for my, if I could just fade out all the login- and register-forms from SMF - so any User-Action would occour from Joomla. Is that easy to do, or does anybody know a better way? thx Bene
/Edit: I found out, that I can login with SMF, when I leave the password blank, on first try (of cause, login fails). On the 2nd try, the login is successful...

This is the known problem that is listed with JSMF 1.1RC2. If a user is not in both databases and they attempt to login from SMF it will fail. However, a subsequent login will succeed. This happens because when SMF errors we can trigger an event to synchronize the user to both databases. Unfortanately at this time there is no way to fix the initial failure. This is why most choose to use a Joomla login such as the default Joomla login or our Joomla-SMF login. This problem only occurs if logging in from SMF initially.
I see. I'll have to wait for a fix. The only way to prevent my Users from having that error would be, to avert them from using the SMF-Login-Form (!?)
Sorry, my english seems not to be good enough, to extract the appropriate information. With that error, you cannot run a board, so how do others short-circute that issue?

This is not an initial problem for me but occurs also on 2nd and 3rd login.
First, that error should not continually occur. Second, most use an optional login module. We have one here as I provided in the other post.
the results of my tests were, that this error occurs continuously I'll try to recover the old (partially functioning) version, so you can have a look, youself.
the loginform you suggested to me, is really cool - i like it!
/edit:
i restored the old config: joomla 1.0.8; smf 1.1rc2 and com_joomla_smf_forum_1.1.zip feel free and have a look at xxxx
/edit: that issue is beeing retired due to great support in the latest version!
