Letterman upgrade

I need to upgrade my version of Letterman.

When I tried to install the update installer error message said a component is already using the com_Letterman directory.

However I'm scared to uninstall the old version as I might lose my existing subscribers.

I have exported and saved the subscribers but it's just an xml text file and if the subscriber module is overwritten in the upgrade I guess I would have to manually re-subscribe existing users?

Can someone please guide me through the upgrade process, especially in regard to saving existing subscribers and newsletters?

Well, that update installer sucks. It looks like the update is trying a new install that's why you get that error.

Your options:
1. backup your letterman tables then upgrade.
2. Or export your data then re-install.

I would suggest 1 because i'm not sure about their export integrity. Unless the update confirms that it can import the xml export.
