SMF breaks Joomla template and undefined index: action
« on: February 12, 2006, 11:58:31 PM »

Hi,

I have the following configuration;

Joomla! 1.0.7
SMF 1.1RC2
Joomla-SMF Forum 1.1Beta

Following install instructions to the letter, I went through SMF and Joomla-SMF Forum installs with no problems (Joomla has been installed a while).

I chose wrapped as the integration mode.

When I went to view the forums, the page template was all over the place. On looking at the source code, the forums were placed within the main body of the template, but the code placed in there was a complete html page starting with it's doctype definition and everything.

Have I done something wrong, is this a known bug or is it expected behaviour?

Also, I got the following error;

Notice: Undefined index: action in {my directory structure}\components\com_smf\smf.php on line 33

I'm not sure if this is a symptom of the first problem or not, but it appears whether the integration mode is wrapped or unwrapped, so I suspect it is seperate.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I just noticed the RC1 release, so tried uninstalling the beta and installing RC1, but same result.

The error message is gone though, right.

The reason this is happening is that you have not edited your CSS and both SMF and Joomla have the same elements in their CSS.  When you are viewing the SMF CSS it gets loaded *after* the joomla CSS and that is why the elements go haywire if your forum is wrapped.  You need to modify or remove the duplicate entries in your SMF CSS if you want it to work well with Joomla.
