I have noticed this problem intermittently and can't explain it. Anyone else notice being logged out of forums but still logged into Joomla? I have done some debugging and I don't see a problem... yet.
I was messing with the SMF admin settings and a few that might help are the following:
allow subdomain independent cookies should be on
Default login cookie length in minutes -> set at your discretion, this will help though
Enable local storage of cookies should be off this directly affects joomla-smf sessions
Database driven session should be on
seconds before unused session timeout should be >= 2880
Check if those are set appropriately. Oh, and also, the forum URL for SMF should not be the joomla location with option=com_smf etc. It should be the normal URL. For example, if your joomla link is:
that itemID is based on the database's component table's row id which is set incrementally upon component install. There shouldn't be any reason to have it set to a specific number. What are you trying to do?

I'm just confused how my links to com_smf of itemID 71 can continue to work, even if I don't have a menu item pointing there?
Anyway, I just changed the name of my new menu item from "Forum" to "Forums", and for some reason the URL became "undefined&Itemid=86"...
So instead of having a Component link, I changed all my Link-URLs to 86. But what's happening to the old incoming links that point to itemid 71? Are there any problems with running with two item IDs?

The ajax exit boxes still don't work. The "?action" and other "?URL" lines in xml_topic.js and xml_board.js should be changed to "&"
The $mosurl should have &s instead of &'s or else the site will have a ton of non-validating URL's
When logging into the site, Joomla's UserMenu rarely appears
EDIT: When fixing the $mosurl, it fixes the site, but breaks the forums. To correct this, the ampersands on lines 265 and 995 in functions.smf.php should be changed to '&'s

Any thoughts on my problem on login when the forum menu is registered/special and using the CB plugin? see last weeks post for more details or wasn't I clear? W
One. the member online count may differ from the members reported online. However, a look at the JOS_sessions file will show blanks where the member id would be.. the SMF sessions table however is properly populated (not that SMS sessions does not store obvious user names)
Personally, having users log in to SMF seperately from Joomla is not a deal breaker for me, but having unpredictable behaviours is.
If when they log in they can navigate joomla and, when they wish to post a message or do something 'forum specific they 'reauthenticate themselves in that context' (see, everything sounds better with some big words ), and then are logged into the forums with a long/indefinate login period
when are the user being synchronized? A new user registered with CB/Joomla. I confirmed the user but a SMF account wasn't created (it may be that the user registered just before I installed the bridge. This I cannot tell for sure...
But anyway, when I delete a user from CB it won't delete from SMF.
sometimes when I log in, i get directly redirected to the forum.
if i have stayed logged in for a while, i may be thrown out of the forum. if i am still logged in to CB/Joomla, i cannot log back in to SMF. SMF tells me that I need to write a username.
