Joomla-SMF 1.1beta2 for Mambo/Joomla and SMF1.1RCx
« on: February 08, 2006, 08:22:31 PM »

Please use Joomla-SMF 1.1RC1 which can be downloaded from this thread:

http://www.joomlahacks.com/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,94/topic,1286.0

Here is beta2 which I am hoping all you CB users will test for me.  I have said this before, I am not very familiar with CB so I have been trying to address all the other problems first in hopes that one of those will fix the CB problem.  If this still has a problem with CB then I will need to dig in and fix it, but I have my fingers crossed.

Fixes included in beta2:
1.1-7.  Fixed quote in Quick-Reply
1.1-8.  Fixed total time logged in(Thanks IceMan of JoomlaHacks.com!)
1.1-9.  Login redirection fixes
1.1-10. Fixed login from SMF fails
1.1-a. General code maintenance and compatability fixes
Those of you that reported bugs for beta1, those should be resolved, thanks!

If you currently have Joomla-SMF installed please follow these steps to uninstall the current version before attempting to upload and install the new version:
  • Un-install Joomla-SMF Forum Component following these steps
    • Login to Joomla/Mambo Administration
    • Select 'Joomla-SMF'->'Configuration' from menu labeled 'Components'
      • Click the link 'un-patch' in front of the text 'Patch mambo index.php file.
      • Click the link 'un-patch' in front of the text 'Patch SMF index.php and Sources/Subs-Post.php file.'
    • Select 'Components' from the menu labeled 'Installers'
      • Click the radio to the left of com_joomla_smf_forum and select Un-Install from the top left of the screen

The component is included in the attached zip file.  Extract the zip to a folder and you will find the component inside along with the _README, CHANGELOG, and license.  Please follow the readme instructions for installation.

Note:  I did not test this with Mambo at this point so please, as with all beta software, make sure you have backups in case something bad happens.

Thanks to everyone for you continued support and help!   Wink

I've been doing minor testing with CB(fresh install) with the CB login and it appears to be working.  I am not sure exactly what was failing for everyone but hopefully the session fixes resolved it.

Thank you for your work and efforts. But beta2 doesn't work on my site. I have the same problem with it like with all previous versions.

I am using
Joomla! 1.0.7
SMF 1.1RC2
Community Builder 1.0 RC2 (Version from joomlapolis.com)
Joomla-SMF 1.1beta2

When I try to log in through CB RC2 login lodule, then I am logged in on the site, but not in the forum. I must separate log in into the forum, after log in on the site. It has worked with CB, Joomla-SMF 1.0.2a and SMF 1.1RC1.

Best greetings

Are you using the https functionality?

edit:  I just noticed the same problem on my test bed so I will look into this next.

The link is correct, i think that the problem is the cookie or the time loged.

ya, I've got it figured out.  CB sidetracks the normal joomla login which as a side effect misses our smf login we put in the joomla login.   Tongue

Long story short is that I am going to write a plugin for CB that will call our SMF login function.  I hope to have it done this weekend.  That has been the missing link and the reason SMF hasn't been logging in from Joomla with the CBRC2Login.

Wolverine,

Glad to hear you tracked down the problem. I think they side tracked it due to the workflows that they use. Many of us with CB use the workflows so are locked into the CB login for that reason. If you use other logins most of them ignor the workflow so they are not good for us taht use the workflow functions. With the plugin that you are working on will we still have to install the Joomla-SMF module or will this all be self contained in the plugin? Also the next question is now that you have installed CB do you like it? I hope so because if you do that will mean better CB support.

Again thanks for all you do,

Rick

It will most likely be a seperate plugin for CB users at this point.  The bridge will still be needed.  If I can get this release all tidied up I hope to work quite a bit on the bridge for Joomla 1.1 and see if I can't improve it using the new tools available in Joomla.  But that is still a little ways down the road for now.

@wolverine

no matter what i choose in the configuration...the login redirects to the forum. i choose wrapped and 'always redirect to forum on login' no but the login still redirect to forum.

i also tryed to change the redirect url in the login module itself...but still the same

EDIT:

another bug like kirck descripted. after an automatic logout(? dont know why...i choose login forever option) i get the login incomplete message
