Installation problems/beginners problems

Hi there,
I have a joomla1.0.7 running and are trying to install SMS-forum version 1.1B1. But even though I have installed the component and changed the configuration one field gives me problems... the absolute path.
I suppose it is the path to where the forum is installed? I can find it under administrator/components/com_smf but even though I give the absolute path to this position it doesn't work. Am I misunderstanding something here?

not where the component is installed, where the SMF installation is located.  mine is similar to this:

/home/me/public_html/forum/

whereas my Joomla-smf component is installed in:
/home/mf/public_html/administrator/component/com_smf/
