It seems to be because there isn't a default link style in your Mambo template css file.

I've just notived the same thing on my site and put this code in:

a {
font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
}


which brought alt the links in SMF in to line with the Mambo template as well as fixing the SMF wrapper issue.

Where did you insert that code to make it work?  I've tried it in my CSS file and nothing happens.
