(SOLUTION) Nasty AJAX problem with bridge
« on: January 05, 2006, 07:22:07 PM »

(See my third post for a solution)

Hi there! I've upgraded to SMF 1.1 RC2 for testing reasons, as the site I am currently building is in late beta stages. Before bridging, I tested many of the new features in the release. One of the coolest is the AJAX editor. I bridged, and received and fixed the errors I expected. BUT, I went to try to edit a post via AJAX, and was unsuccessful!

Here were the firefox errors
ON FIRST CLICK:
Quote

Quote
Error: XMLDoc.getElementsByTagName("message")[0] has no properties
Source File: http://www.dni-olympics.info/beta/forums/Themes/default/xml_topic.js
Line: 54
ON SECOND CLICK:
Quote
Error: element has no properties
Source File: http://www.dni-olympics.info/beta/forums/Themes/default/script.js?rc2p
Line: 240

See if anyone else has this problem. Go into a post and click the modify button that is physical inside the post, not the one up by quote.

The url in the first message gives this:
Quote

This issue DOES NOT occur in the bridged version with direct URL's... weird

Thanks!
-Kevin

I'll take a look at this one. For the meantime, I would recommend all Joomla-SMF users to stick with RC1.

Any news on this? It's one of the few things keeping me from publishing my site...

Part of it will be taking the appropriate code from the header of your SMF theme and moving it to your Joomla template.  I'm experimenting with this right now.

SOLUTION!

I found it *dances*

There was a slight code change in /themes/default/xml_topic.js
On line 7, 11, 13, 46, and 92. These lines have ? where there should be &'s.
The same issues occur on xml_board.js on line 19 and 54.

For example:
OLD LINE 7
Code:
window.location.href = smf_scripturl + "?action=post;quote=" + messageid + ";topic=" + smf_topic + "." + smf_start + ";sesc=" + cur_session_id;
NEW LINE 7
Code:
window.location.href = smf_scripturl + "&action=post;quote=" + messageid + ";topic=" + smf_topic + "." + smf_start + ";sesc=" + cur_session_id;

That would be the problem! Easy fix!! YAY!

I would love to do this but unfortunatly there is no way to downgrade RC2 back to RC1. This is so frustrating...
