Bridge not working in IE even on Joomlahacks demo site
« on: December 16, 2005, 12:18:32 AM »

OK, have been having login problems for a while now so I'm trying to rebuild from scratch, but still having challenges. We've installed:

1. New install of Joomla 1.04
2. New Install of SMF 1.1 RC1
3. Bridge version 1.02a

On firefox (1.07) it generally seems to work, however there is often a delay, especially on logout. For example I'll log on and it will still be saying "Welcome Guest". If I click on "Home" though, It will change to showing being logged on. Caching is turned off in Joomla.

On Internet Explorer (6.02), it doesn't seem to log in at all at either our site, or even the Joomlahacks demo site (http://demo.joomlahacks.com). It goes to the forum wrapped, but it still says "Welcome Guest". When I try to navigate to anywhere else it shows as still not being logged in.

All checks in the component are good (ie everything is patched and on the same DB). All files and paths show up as being writeable.

Tech details as follows:

Apache          1.3.34
PHP version     4.4.1
MySQL version     4.0.25-standard

Component Settings:
Wrapped
Hide emails: yes
Redirect to forum: No
Registration form: Mambo (tried SMF, too - same result)

Any help would be massively appreciated. Cowboy / Wolverine, if you're open to getting this working for us for $ I'm all ears, too.

by chance, PJ of tribalwar fame?

Things that I have posted before which seem to work well with the bridge:

  • Clear clientside cookies for your site
  • In SMF administration->Disable local storage of cookies
  • In SMF administration->Disable subdomain independent cookies
  • Verify that the SMF forum link in joomlasmf bridge configuration is identical to the live site configuration(and identical in SMF administration)

If all that doesn't help use phpmyadmin to delete all the sessions in jos_session and smf_sessions.

If all of that doesn't help, just let us know.  In addition, Firefox 1.5 is out and is smooth as hell, you should check it out.
