Administrative Login
« on: December 15, 2005, 06:12:07 PM »

Hey everybody.
Just recently, I've started to run into a new, and very annoying issue. I have Joomla 1.0.2 running with the most current bridge and SMF 1.1. Now, when I login, the "login forever" feature works fine BUT, all the administrators have a problem. Administrators are required to re-enter their password to enter the administrator area of the forums. This page is seriously messed. The reason is that the page is formatted as follows:
Code:
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="http://www.dni-olympics.info/beta/forums/Themes/default/style.css?rc1" />
    <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="http://www.dni-olympics.info/beta/forums/Themes/default/print.css?rc1" media="print" />
    <link rel="help" href="http://www.dni-olympics.info/beta/index.php?option=com_smf/index.php?action=help" target="_blank" />
    <link rel="search" href="http://www.dni-olympics.info/beta/index.php?option=com_smf/index.php?action=search" />
    <link rel="contents" href="http://www.dni-olympics.info/beta/index.php?option=com_smf/index.php" />
    <link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="D'ni Olympic Games 2006 - RSS" href="http://www.dni-olympics.info/beta/index.php?option=com_smf/index.php?type=rss;action=.xml" />

Notice that it reads option=com_smf/index.php

What's up with that?? Anybody else having similar issues?

Enable the "Disable administration security" setting in SMF's options.

And, please, update to Joomla! 1.0.4 ASAP.

Aye thanks!

Oh, and upgrading to 1.0.4 is currently out of the question. I've done so much hacking to attain XHTML validity, upgrading would be a weeks worth of work... but it is on my to-do list...

If you set 'disable administration security' in SMF administration this will not occur.  Basically, the bridge cannot capture and reformat that redirect because it is completely inside SMF.  So what happens is an unwrapped password entry screen.  Depending on your template setup this could be very ugly.  Follow these steps:

  • Open SMF Administration
  • Select Feature and Options under Configuration
  • Check 'Disable Administration Security under Basic Forum Features
  • Click Save

1.0.4 just changes a few files, download the patch file and have a look.

The security problems are very serious though, actually your site can get hacked at any time.
