Yet Another Sync Problem
« on: November 26, 2005, 02:43:15 PM »

Hi,

I am using Joomla 1.0.4 and Joomla-SMF Integration version is 1.0.2a.

I followed the steps that were described in Cowboy bridge between Joomla and SMF, and the installation done successfully.

I am using the  Joomla-SMF Login module which I have installed successfully.

But when I registered a user using Joomla and tried to go the to forum the forum asked for entering user name and password, I entered them, and I got a message that the user does not exist.

I have patched and unpatched mambo's index.php as well as smf's index.php a couple of times. I tried to manually sync the users and the synchronisation works (i.e. I'm able to log into SMF when registered on Joomla). This means the database prefixes are working fine, correct?

I have 2 questions:
1) why is it that when I register a new user on Joomla, I can't login to SMF?
2) What is the Registration module I should be using? Currently, I am using Mambo as the registration module. What is the difference?

I have done a search through the entire forum, and have even tried re-installing both Joomla and SMF to no avail. I am willing to manually go through the files just to make this work. Appreciate all the help I can get!

Thanks.

that is odd, I just followed the steps you stated and I didn't have the problem you mentioned.  I was logged into SMF automatically.  Here are the steps I took, you tell me if I missed something.

1) Joomla-SMF is set to Mambo Registration
2) Registered via Joomla-SMF login
3) Logged in via Joomla-SMF login
4) Selected Forum and I was shown as logged into the forums

Post all your configs for Joomla-SMF component so I can compare.

Also, do you have subdomain independent cookies enabled in SMF?

Hi

1. I registered via Joomla-SMF login (with Mambo Registration Module enabled).
2. I tried to login via SMF (not Joomla-SMF login), because I was thinking some people might just bookmark my forum and attempt to login from there directly in the future.
3. If I logged in via Joomla-SMF login, I will be able to access the forum.

After I registered with Joomla-SMF, I opened my Joomla database and found the new user there. However, checking the SMF database I don't see this new user being created.

ya, I see your problem now.  I found the same problem.  I think that using the mambo registration there is no way around that issue.  If you need to have the user able to login to SMF like this then the only solution would be to use SMF registration.
