So, i advise you upgrade all. Joomla upgrades are very easy, smf may be more troubled  but not really hard.

Uninstall old JSMF component, upgrade SMF and Joomla, and install JSMF 2.0.2.1, that's all

(easy to say, hard to do;  )

i use joomla 1.0.15 and smf 1.1.4 with JSMF 2.0.2.1
there is no problem with compatibility.

But i'm not sure how to upgrade all of them once.

furthermore, your post date is 23 march 2008, and until that day, there were many upgrades for joomla and smf, especially security upgrades. i cannot imagine that you still use joomla 1.0.11.
