Joomla! 1.5 is still in his first beta. And the advise is …Do not use the beta version for Live sites (this advise is from Joomla.org) JSMF 2.0.2 is not working with the beta version off Joomla!. More info about this you will find on the forums
OMG Thank You! That fixed everything! It works like a dream. One question though, is there a Joomla! 1.5 Login module being worked on, or is out?
I realize that this thread is for the updated 1.0.13 version of Joomla, but has this question been answered anywhere? I've searched, and I'm not finding anything.
Please don't register, unless you attended high school in Soldotna, Alaska! It's for alumni, and the family and friends of alumni only.
I wanted to help out for our 20 year high school reunion, and had a list of about 60 people from high school in an excel spreadsheet. I put the site up in late December of 2006, and my site has already grown to 150 users! It has been a big help in getting our reunion planned, and will be a help for future reunions. We use a combination of Community Builder 1.0.2, Joomla 1.0.11, SMF 1.1.2 and Gallery 2.
I initially used Orstio's Joomla/SMF bridge, and found it difficult to manage. When deleting a user, it had to be done in 3 places, and nothing synchronized well at all. Avatar sync was impossible, and the main thing was that recovering a password was difficult to impossible as well. I posted with troubles surrounding "Lost Password", and since I use CB for registration, and thus password recovery, the bridge did not play well, and I was having to reset passwords manually, through SMF.
All of these troubles are now eliminated with joomlahacks.com bridge! I only have to manage 2 user databases now, as Gallery2 keeps a separate database of users still, but sync between Joomla and SMF is seamless, and works both directions, not just one way. Avatar sync is a God-send, and my password recovery works as it should, while using the CB registration. I use the module for the Joomla-SMF login, and it works well, and is easily customizable. Nice work on a great bridge guys, keep up the great work!
Also resolved the issues I was having with the Joomla-SMF login module. Checked everything in IE, which was working fine. Had to clear my cookies in Firefox to get it to work, but it's functional. Thanks for an awesome bridge, much closer to what I wanted in the first place!
My bad, found it in the CORRECT path administrator/components/com_smf/admin.smf.class.php. File fixed, issue resolved.
Still having logout issues under the jsmf module, however. I'll look more closely at your post, looks like you might have an update somewhere in the repository.
I also have the CB plugin installed, version 2.0.3. I ran across a thread that said the line was in /components/com_smf/admin.smf.class.php. This file does not exist in my installation???
I love the integration, it's much better than the Orstio bridge I was using in the past. I was looking for tighter integration, which this bridge offers! One big reason for the upgrade was to get my "lost password" feature working finally, but having the same troubles mentioned earlier in this thread. I see the fix, but smf.class.php does not have the line:
Code:
"WHERE id = '$smf_id' ";
anywhere in the file, and nothing even close, not even the corrected line. I tried adding the line around line 1197 to no avail as well. Also having trouble logging out. When I log out using the JSMF login module, it still shows me as logged in (in the module), but if I try going to my profile for instance, it tells me I need to be logged in, which indicates that I am logged out, but the module doesn't give me a username/password login, it shows my avatar.
Sorry, didn't mean to jump your bridge without at least trying it. It does look like it has extended features over Orstio's 1.1.6 bridge, however, it does require SMF and Joomla being in the same DB? I'd really rather keep them separate for right now, as I've put a lot of work into my Joomla config over the last couple weeks (mods, etc). Unless there is a way to merge the two DB's? I have plenty of backups to work with if things get screwed up.
Hey everyone, I'm considering using this bridge mainly for its support for Community Builder. I have used Orstio's Bridge before, and didn't have many problems with it, but again, it had no CB support. My site currently is run on Tinyportal (www.tinyportal.net), and I will be moving over to joomla (already mirrored on my demo site) in the near future. Over at Joomla.org forums, I saw this:
3) Cowboy's bridge from http://www.joomlahacks.com : Originally based on an older version of Orstio's bridge, Cowboy soon re-wrote most of the code (originally for better SEF compatibility, but then he kept making improvements). Good option for someone who wants a simple install, and can have both installed in the same database. Advantages:
* Full integration with CB through the use of CB plugin (including avatar synchronization) * Joomap integration through the use of Joomap plugin * Ability to select PMS of choice * Caches parameters and data for significant performance improvement * Much simpler install than Orstio's bridge (though Orstio's bridge 1.1.3 and above makes it just as easy) * Can migrate users from Joomla to SMF upon login, and from SMF to Joomla. * Work with Mambo 4.5.2.X or Joomla 1.0.X * SMF can be "wrapped" in Joomla, "unwrapped" (where it is still loading through Joomla, but without any of the headers, side bars, etc.) * Can use SMF, Joomla, or Community Builder registration. * Can synchronize Joomla and SMF users. * Mambot available with capabilities of posting a link to a related forum topic, with options of viewing the forum topic (unformatted for BBC code or smileys) in the content item. Cowboy has mentioned that he is working on all of the features in the other discussbot as well (edit 11/28/05 - it appears that the discussbot linked to above might work for the joomlhacks bridge as well).
Disadvantages:
* Requires SMF 1.1 RC1 or higher (newest version of the bridge). * Requires Joomla and SMF in the same database. * Requires the use of standard Joomla (jos_) and SMF (smf_) table headers. No longer an issue with version 2.0 * Modifies more Joomla and SMF files, leading to possible complications with other components/packages or with upgrades, and the possibility for an unclean uninstall.
The last disadvantage is what scares me. I plan on using several joomla components, and was wondering how common conflicts with other components are with this bridge? Are there any known examples of conflicts? Also, since this bridge syncs CB avatars etc, will it cripple my server load, since I can only afford Shared Hosting at the moment. My site currently has 1900 Members in the SMF database, and we expect up to 3000 by the end of this year.
The last disadvantage is a deal breaker. No way would I integrate my production forum, and I don't have that many users, only 21 users! Why does this site still have the hella old bridge 1.1.4 out here? The up to date bridge is 1.1.6. Sounds like someone took it upon themselves, which is fine as long as it's a stable bridge. Orstio's bridge works fine and makes sense. I'd rather deal with no avatar sync if these are the consequences. This site should take down or archive all old versions of the bridge.
