Or Jordan, perhaps we could all learn PHP and give Wolverine back his free time?

Doh! Yes back-to-front.  Check that wrapped was enabled and have even tried turn off and then back on.  It also did it earlier when I used the discussion bot to create a new topic - as soon as I click save it switches from wrapped to unwrapped.

No errors are displayed.  Here what I did.

1. Turned on error logging in Joomla (max)
2. Login user to site.
3. Clicking on avatar icon taking me to CB Profile section
4. Clicking Modify Profile Link on Forum Profile Tab (CB Plugin)
5. Click on Change Profile button on SMF Forum (haven't actually changed anything)
6. URL for SMF profile page changes from

wrapped:http://www.mysitehere.co.uk/support/index.php?action=profile;u=8;sa=forumProfile

unwrapped:http://www.mysitehere.co.uk/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=26&action=profile;u=8;sa=forumProfile

Thank Wolverine,

I think that if I stop registered users in SMF from having write access to the boards, then everybody who joins the site will be in this category until I change them manually in SMF.

Also while I've been playing, I found some CB plugins that display the forum profile info in a tab in CB.  These work great.  But i get a strange glitch when updating the profile in SMF.  Clicking the SAVE button at the bottom of the SMF profile page cause the site to switch to SMF as if I'd load the forum directly.  All the buttons and links no longer point to Joomla???

How do the different user types relate to each other from Joomla to SMF.  Here's my problem:

Because VirtualMart requires everybody to register an account to place an order I have to leave registration ON which I'd rather not do.  I discovered that using JACL Plus I can create a new user called 'Registered Plus' which are the one I want to allow write access to.  What I don't know is, if I can the user type in Joomla will the bridge change the user type in SMF and if so,  can I link the two types.

Wolverine - you are a scholar and a gentleman!!!  Understand about 10% of what you explained but it works and that is brilliant.  Doubt VM will be interested as their site is full of complaints about bad coding, but will post info on to writer of Product Book because he is currently looking at the problem from his side.  Again many, many thanks.

Honest can't remember, tried too many things.  Surely if I switched templates then it should work?

OK removed rewrite for forum and changed smf server settings.  Hasn't made any difference Huh

Wolverine,  the forum was setup first on a subdomain.  I've deleted this this morning but it takes 1&1 about three hours to register the fact.  Once its gone, I change the SMF settings from www.support.mysite.com so that no rewrite  occurs.

As for the mamot, I haven't go it installed only the module and component install and its the latter that causes the problem with VC.  However Product Book is component only with is published on frontend, that to causes problem.

The 1&1 script I used logs to errors.csv not error_log.log but I did have to upload a blank errors.csv first. Huh

Wolverine did that PM turn up yet?

purepersian2 my host won't let me access the error logs but there were instructions for creating a php error file. See http://faq.1and1.com/scripting_languages_supported/php/8.html

I added this to the index.php after the first set off comments.  I also created the error.csv file in the Joomla root.  It seems to be logging errors.

No Fatal.  Ran several times an all are notice.  I pasted the script into the very top of the index.php file!

Is there somewhere else that would be better?
