16  Joomla Hacks / Joomla-SMF 2.0.x / Re: Ajax not working in SMF 1.1RC3 with the latest bridge. Please help. on: December 10, 2006, 12:00:07 AM
Seems your links are resolved correctly. In the reply post screen, the "Insert Quote" beside each previous reply below points to "http://www.hairdressingworld.com/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,XX/board,XX.0/#top" when it should've pointed to something like "http://www.hairdressingworld.com/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,XX/action,post/topic,XX.0/num_replies,X/#top"
(X are all numbers)

I don't know what could cause this, but maybe you can try disabling Joomla's SEF for the moment. Also, just to check, make sure you've patched the SMF files in your JSMF's backend.

Rgds, Mike

Hi Mike,
I tried each of the above after reading your post. I unpatched the SMF files and it made no difference (apart from sending me to an unbridged forum when I logged out). The problem with smilies not being entered into the posts remained.

I then switched off the Joomla SEF and again, the problem still remained that smilies did not get entered into the posts.

Do you have any other ideas why the BBC code buttons are suddenly not working? Thanks for your help. It's appreciated.

Regards,
Chris.

EDIT: I should also add that the BBC buttons do not work in the unbridged forum either, so something has definitely gone astray in the actual SMF code rather than the joomla code.

Well, when I press a smilie when making a post, nothing happens (no code gets put into the post). Same with the formatting options.

Also, in the admin area, where you have those little ? boxes that produce a pop-up window explaining what the feature is for, they don't work either. You have to press the button and it takes you to a new page.

My site is at www.hairdressingworld.com

Perhaps it is a problem with my SMF template or something, but it worked before?

If you need a log in I can provide you with one via PM.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Wolverine,
I converted to your bridge last night without too many problems.
The only problem I have is that any Ajax features in SMF do not seem to work (either in the front end or the admin panel). For the benefit of people searching or reading this post in future, your Ajax features are the buttons or icons like smilies, formatting (bold, italics) etc. If you are having this problem then this is the thread you need to read.

I'm using Joomla 1.0.11, SMF 1.1RC3, the JSMF Bridge 2.0RC3, also the Joomap plugin and the community builder plug-in.

The bridge is set to use the Community Builder registration through the JSMF log-in module.

I'd appreciate some directions or help on how to get the Ajax modules working again before my members notice Wink

Thanks for your help guys.

Thank you Wolverine.

I did that and everything went smoothly. For anybody else wanting to do the same thing, go to your Cpanel tutorials (provided by your host) and watch the PHPmyAdmin tutorial. It shows you exactly how to take data from one database and put it into another.

After that, it's relatively straightforward.

Thanks again for providing such a great bridge.

Chris.

Hi there,
I am currently using the SMF bridge provided at the SMF (I only installed Joomla and SMF 1.1RC3 last month).

Now my site is progressing there are many things that I want to do, including using the community builder plug-in and have my forum topics listed in my sitemap.

I get the impression that I can do all of these things with your bridge and so I'd like to ask a few questions.

I'm still very new to SQL, and have the SMF database in a seperate database to Joomla. To use your bridge I've read that they must be in the same database. Could you direct me to a guide, or tell me step by step how to put my current SMF database into my Joomla database?

Are there any other considerations I need to make to move from the 'other' bridge with 2 seperate databases onto your bridge with one?

Thanks for your time.
