1  Joomla Hacks / Mambo-SMF 1.3.x / Re: Multiple forums on: August 23, 2005, 06:12:05 PM
I guess this means I need to go read the manuals for mambo component creation then  Roll Eyes Tongue  And yes, I am refering to multiple installations of SMF Smiley

Concerning the component name : I've gone through and changed ever instance of "smf", "com_smf" and "mosSMF" (as in "smf --> xxx", "com_smf --> com_xxx", "mosSMF --> mosXXX) to something different so as to differentiate, but it seems to have had no effect   Undecided  I even renamed the files respectively after having looked at the way a number of other components are set up.

As to being tricky : if all references are changed to the new "working title" from the original, and since the information for the forum that is pulled should be determined by the forum address defined in the mambo component config - what else do I need to be worrying about?  I realize that the users will be the same for each additional forum - at this point that's ok, as we could assign different rights by user groups.

once again, thanks in advance   Cheesy
2  Joomla Hacks / Mambo-SMF 1.3.x / Re: Can registration send additional info? on: August 23, 2005, 06:00:07 PM
As registration is run through the Mambo or CB registration process depending upon what you've chosen to use, this would really be more a matter of hacking the registration process.

For mambo, it would be hacking the main code.  With CB, it's a matter of modifying the CB component to include such functionality.

Not sure about the mambo registration, but I know that over on the CB forum several people have made mention of this possibility, though little progress has been made as of yet.

If you or anyone else is interested, just hop on over and join in!  Grin

I'm trying to break things  Grin

Strange as it may sound, I'm looking into having multiple *forums*, not just boards, avaliable at one of the sites I'm working on.

To that end, I've been going through and hacking with the bridge code - not making any changes to the functions, as that works just fine, but looking for a way for multiple copies of the component to happily coexist.

I want to test what I have so far, but I have a problem - I've scoured the code, and I can't seem to find a way to change the directory that the component will install into : com_smf  Huh

If I can change that, I can see how much I've broken and what needs to be worked on some more Smiley  Thanks in advance ...

empty registration

If you look there guilliam, you will find we addressed the same issue and where able to resolve it.  If you have tried replacing the index.php, I would suggest this:

- make sure that you have both mambo and smf properly configured
- install the bridge
- go in and edit the index.php file by hand to make the changes that have been mentioned.

though, since the new version of the bridge 1.3.1.3 fixes the poll error, and it was the poll fix that also corrected the login issues, the extra editing may no longer be needed.  I'll be checking that as soon as I have a chance ...

shannon - as I'm still learning here and have a ways to go .. would you be so kind as to make avaliable the changes you made concerning (3)- or just a link to the thread were they are listed?  Cheesy  I can cut and paste quite effeciantly, even if that isn't quite the same as hacking it  Wink Tongue

   thank you in advance ...
5  Joomla Hacks / Mambo-SMF 1.3.x / Re: installed bridge w/ Gallery integration on: June 15, 2005, 11:04:02 PM
Ok, so I never actually found an answer to this problem Tongue

What I did discover was that by updating to the latest version of gallery (G2 - which is still in beta) it is no longer an issue.  The new component used to integrate G2 does not have the same conflicts and the bridge works just fine.

If anyone does ever figure out the problem, I would still like to know how to fix it.  'Til then, I would suggest to anyone who can that they go ahead and migrate to G2.

Thank you all for your time and interest Smiley

6  Joomla Hacks / Mambo-SMF 1.3.x / installed bridge w/ Gallery integration on: June 08, 2005, 11:43:54 PM
It's me again Smiley

I looked around a bit and gathered some info, just to be sure, before I came to post this thread.

It appears that, when the bridge is installed, the pop-ups that Gallery uses to allow additional actions - specifically uploading pictures - do not function.  The error given is :

"init.php: gallery seems to be inside Mambo but we can't get the necessary info."

If you uninstall the bridge, the process works just fine again.

Also, while the bridge is installed the "skin/theme" is broken - it returns when the bridge is uninstalled.

http://gallery.menalto.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=29738&start=15

Here is the link to this issue in the Gallery forums - and yes, I've tried installing the latest stable version of Gallery (1.5) - no fix.  I don't know what piece it is that is being accessed differently to cause the error, but thanks in advance for the help Smiley

Go check out that thread real quick  Grin

The issue you are having sounds exactly like what we were experiencing.  It's just a matter of editing those lines in the index.php Smiley

Hope that fixes the issue for you - good luck  Cool

EDIT
----

There is a catch though - any users created before fixing the index.php will still be broken.  You'll have to delete and sign them up again for them to show up properly Smiley

YES!!!

Well, those few lines were what broke it.  I edited the index.php and now it's working fine again.  It was also causing an issue with Gallery popups not working - I have to integrate that again, then I'll check and see if that's fixed too.

THANK YOU for your time and hard work - this component is really an excellent piece of hackery Wink

... hmm.

And that was using the CB login module, with email verification and admin approval turned on?

Well, thank you - I guess I'll have to keep hunting ...

Machine : i686
OS : Linux
PHP : 4.3.10
Apache : 1.3.33
MySQL : 4.0.23
Mambo : 4.5.2.1
SMF :1.0.3
Bridge : 1.3.1.2

I install and configure both mambo - with CB - and SMF.

Unintegrated, the regsitration process for mambo/CB works just fine.  *As soon as* I install the bridge, the process breaks.

The emails that are sent to the admin have no information in them - it's just a copy of the notification with no user info.

When you access the mambo backend, the users are not listed in any form or fashion in the CB component (or the regular mambo user manager for that matter).  The number of users is correct, you can even navigate to additional blank pages for the appropriate number of users.

When you check the actual database, the information is there.  You can do a little fiddling and make it possible for those who have "registered" to log in, but that of course is not a preferred option.

-----
EDIT
-----

I'm certain it's the bridge now.  Before installing it, there is no problem.  When installed, the registration process breaks.  After I uninstall the bridge, the registration process works fine again.

If you need any more information, just let me know.  Whatever I can do - just tell me.  Thanks again for your time.
