Dont use fantastico.

It installs them to separate databases and they need to be in the same one.

The answers to your questions are all here. Just seek and ye shall find..

Dont be fooled.

5  Joomla Hacks / Joomla-SMF 1.1.x / (Solved) Hopefully a simple problem but on: December 28, 2006, 12:13:43 PM
Hello
Im running Joomla 1.0.11
CB 1.0.2
SMF 1.1.1

If I register as a new user (with the front end log in)everything is fine until I try to edit the CB profile.
Then all I get is the following

Warning: Missing argument 3 for jsmfCB::updateUser() in /home/cubeloop/public_html/components/com_comprofiler/plugin/user/plug_smfcbplugin/smf_cb.php on line 285
Edit Your Details

JSMF CB Plugin error::Failed to synchronize user updates to SMF::

6  General Discussion / Sites Using Joomla-SMF Forum / Re: Suggestions to NEW JOOMLA SITE on: December 27, 2006, 09:41:16 PM
Nice simple suggestions.

Add an 'any subject' area to the forums and start the ball rolling yourself -  or should I say 'batterup'

Add a 'betting season' or a 'fantasy league' area to the forums. (Not for money of course) Its good fun for the members and gets them coming back. You can get tons of info about this as there are loads on the net. Just do the usual google thing.

Replace the simple machines forum header with a customised one but only use text on the image.
Something like 'Batterup forums'
I say only text as the page already has a header. You dont need another one only a couple if inches below it.

And one last one that is a little more complicated.

Dont use the joomla frontpage for your homepage. Its too bloggy and very hard to control any sort of layout with it.
(You will find help for this at the official joomla site.)
Just have a link to a content item as the front page. I know it doesnt update itself but I think, once you have got all the elements you need on the home page content item, spending an hour a week to update it isnt so bad.

Id say more but I dont know your level of design.
7  Joomla Hacks / Joomla-SMF 1.1.x / (Solved) Lost admin button on SMF on: December 27, 2006, 09:06:59 PM
Just had a major heart attack but managed to solve the problem before posting here.
Thought this may be helpful.

Joomla 1.0.11
SMF 1.1.x

Right - I just had to change my super-admin password in joomla. (Always use the same one when setting things up)

After changing it I logged in to the front end with new password and everything seemed fine.
I went to my forum to make a note of it in 'My DEV shed' (only viewable to admin) and it wasnt there. Neither was the admin panel button or any of the mod controls.

Blood drained from entire body and I fealt rather light headed yet very hot.

The super-admin user doesnt tell SMF that you are an admin if you change your super admin details. It just thinks you are a normal user. (I apologise if thats wrong but its just done it to me - at the expence of my health)

The solution is simple.

Create a new user with your main login panel. Then get to your database and run the following line of code (pref through phpmyadmin)

UPDATE smf_members SET ID_GROUP = '1' WHERE memberName = 'yourusername';

If your smf database prefix is different to smf_ then change it to yours.
Change your usename to the name you just created.

Then log in to your front end with your new user and your forum will give you  the admin button. Click it.
Go to membergroups, click on administration and add your original admin name to the list.

Log out. Log back in with original name and the profuse sweating should quickly subside.

Now Im off to murder a tripple vodka.

(PS - Wolverine, if this is bad info for some reaon please delete)
8  General Discussion / Sites Using Joomla-SMF Forum / Re: No more phpBB for me. Thanks guys. on: December 24, 2006, 11:42:55 PM
Thank you.

I know the site is nothing special but I see a lot of integrations (even from pro's) where it seems no effort has been made to make the forum an actual part of the overall site.
Its a shame considering that you guys have really made it possible to do so.

Once again thank you.

And on a side note.
I have asked a few questions on other joomla related sites and had no feed back whatsoever - even on just general support.

Youv made my day.  Smiley

Merry Christmas. (And if that isnt your thing - Happy midwinter break)
9  General Discussion / Sites Using Joomla-SMF Forum / No more phpBB for me. Thanks guys. on: December 22, 2006, 10:23:29 AM
First of all.
Thank you very much for the great work. As soon as christmas is out of the way a donation is on its way.

Second - Known issues
This is my first joomla (first CMS at all actually) so I built the site using tables as I am only a pooey hobby designer. CSS version on its way.

Third.
I have skinned a couple of phpBB forums before now and never really thought much of SMF. Now I am a changed man. Thanks to you guys.

About the site..
Not much content yet - just getting it up and running but I wanted to show you my Joomla SMF integration.
Just got the icons to customise then i'm all about done with the forum dev.

Hope you like.
The site runs off 5 templates altogether (all my own) and the forum sits very neatly in template 2.

www.cube-loops.com (internort.com is also mine but I cant figure the DNS out)
