1  Joomla Hacks / Joomla-SMF 2.0.x / Using RSS - A Question on: January 15, 2007, 02:29:57 PM
I am using
SMF 1.1.1
Joomla 1.0.12
JSMF 2.0RC# (About to upgrade)

Firstly, thanks to wolverine for all his help and time with a previous problem.

The question I have is when using the RSS feed from SMF the forum opens in standalone mode and not wrapped which is my preferred option.

I may have brain blight, blindness or missed something but I cannot figure out to configure this.

Can anyone help please?

Firstly, a BIG THANK YOU to Wolverine for all his help and time spent on trying to resolve this problem.

After having checked every config, re-installing both the forum and the bridge, updating everything to the latest version, banging my head off the wall and pulling my hair out....I finally had a flash of inspiration  Huh

I turned off the SEF friendly and dynamic urls' in Joomla.

Lo and Behold...everything worked as normal.

I turned them on again and it still worked...but in a short while, the problem reappeared.

So having now turned them off, I am going to contact Emil (the author of SEF Advance) and see if there is something that can be done to resolve all the issues.

My setup is:

Joomla 1.0.12
SMF 1.1.1
JMSF 2.0

Again, thanks to Wolverine and a Happy New Year to ALL

Checked the config in both SMF and JSMF.

Everything complies with the user guide.

Everything was working fine...no problems.

I have not made any alterations to the site, the forum or the bridge and now when anyone tries to post this happens:

The following error or errors occurred while posting this message:
Your session timed out while posting. Please try to re-submit your message.
No subject was filled in.
The message body was left empty.

The forum works fine in stand alone mode, this only happens when it is wrapped in Joomla.

I am using:

Joomla 1.0.11
SMF 1.1.1
Bridge 2.0RC3

Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi Greg,

That quote is from the forum on my site for my users.

I still have the problem that the SEO does not work.

Hi Greg,

Tried that...didn't fix the problem.

I think it is not SMF but a Joomla/SEF Advance Issue.

The posts are now saving.  I switched off the Joomla SEF URLs.

I also have SEF Advance installed which now seems to be redundant.

Hi Wolverine,

Thank you for your response.

I downloaded the user guide prior to installation and set up SMF accordingly.

The settings are as stipulated in the manual.

The forum works perfectly in stand alone mode.  I have tried both wrapped and unwrapped modes through Joomla and both have the same problem.

Another one,

When I try to update my profile from within Joomla and try to submit the changes, I get This:

An Error Has Occurred!
The user whose profile you are trying to view does not exist.

The URL: http://www.ourbulgarianworld.com

After several hours perseverance and help and advice on this forum, I finally got everything to work....so I thought.

My setup is:

Joomla 1.0.11
SMF 1.1RC3
JMSF 2 ORC3

Then this happened:

When I go directly to the forum http://domain.com/smf log in I can post without error.

When I try to post in wrapped mode, I can edit the post but it will not save it.

although I have done it correctly I get an error message on the editor saying:

The following error or errors occurred while posting this message:
Your session timed out while posting. Please try to re-submit your message.
No subject was filled in.
The message body was left empty.

Now I am Stumped!!

Any help greatly appreciated.

I had the same problem yesterday...

The solution for me was to increase the server memory in php.ini to a minimum of 16mb.

13  Joomla Hacks / Joomla-SMF 2.0.x / Re: Joomla Files Patched Ok...SMF Patch Failed on: November 25, 2006, 02:07:13 PM
Thanks for that....my setup is now:

Joomla 1.0.11
SMF 1.1RC3
JMSF 2RC3

All the files patched ok, but when I try to load the homepage I get a blank page.

I unpatched the Joomla files and the page loaded without a problem and smf worked in wrapped mode except that the users cannot log in.

Thanks in advance for your help.
