Don't know why i got so much problems syncing users between joomla and smf but after changing all the collations of my database by hand there is again the error of an unknown column... But this time in joomla!

Joomla/Mambo[0] / SMF[0] inserted Failed :Unknown column \\\'activation\\\' in \\\'field list\\\' SQL=SELECT name, username, password, email, registerDate, block, activation FROM jos1011_users LEFT J

Am I right that every smf_ table has to be of the same collation as the joomla tables are?

Can you choose any collation or has it to be UTF-8...

Is there any way to change all tables collation at one time or is changing the standard only affecting new tables like it seems to do?

I reinstalled smf and the bridge but now i get the following error:

Failed:_JSMF_MSG_SMF_JOOMLA_SYNC_CHECK_ERR: db_error:Illegal mix of collations (latin1_swedish_ci,IMPLICIT) and (utf8_general_ci,IMPLICIT) for operation \\\'=\\\' SQL=SELECT count(*) FROM smf_members

how can I change collations?
