2  Joomla Hacks / Joomla-SMF 2.0.x / Re: Error verifying user synchronization..db_error:Illegal mix of collations[sol on: October 23, 2006, 03:26:42 PM
Am I right that every smf_ table has to be of the same collation as the joomla tables are?
Yes

Quote
Can you choose any collation or has it to be UTF-8...
it can be any collation as long as it same as your joomla table collation.

Is there any way to change all tables collation at one time or is changing the standard only affecting new tables like it seems to do?

I'll leave this question for people who more professional to answer... Smiley
3  Joomla Hacks / Joomla-SMF 2.0.x / Re: moving from local to host errors on: October 21, 2006, 02:23:35 PM

I have looked and looked but cannot find any other files with "home/eventful/public_html/forum/" to change. After my changes I still get the error message above. Anyone got an idea how I can fix this issue?

have you set the absolute path under Components>Joomla-SMF Forum> Istallation??
4  Joomla Hacks / Joomla-SMF 2.0.x / Re: Error verifying user synchronization..db_error:Illegal mix of collations[solved] on: October 21, 2006, 02:17:01 PM
my problem occured after i change my smf database to utf8 in the smf maintanence column.

after that, i found that my database for joomla is actually in latin1 (character set), thus, i need to alter all the "smf_" table in my database 1 by 1 to latin1 and in the setting.php, i change the character set of utf8 to latin1.

thank you!

i altered all the tables already...

mmm~ just a reminder to other user...

Do not Convert the database and data to UTF-8 character set under the smf maintainance column unless the character set of the joomla homepage & community are also using UTF8 as the character set.

Am i right?

hi, I'm moving my website from localhost to online server.

Currently having trouble with the login.login only works in the forum.

i try to synchronize the user name for joomla and smf under Components>Joomla-SMF Forum>Installation, however, error below shown.

Failed:Error verifying user synchronization.: db_error:Illegal mix of collations (latin1_swedish_ci,IMPLICIT) and (utf8_general_ci,IMPLICIT) for operation \\\'=\\\' SQL=SELECT count(*) FROM smf_member

is it caused by the different character set of the database?

how can i solve this problem?

I'm also a newbie working from localhost to online now..
mmm... maybe you can try this:

Code:
$boarddir = $_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'].'/forum';
$sourcedir = $_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'].'/forum/Sources';

by the way, remember to go to your Components>Joomla-SMF Forum> Istallation
to set the SMF Absolute Path.

If i told anything wrong or miss out any step, please let me know... hehehe...  Smiley
10  Joomla Hacks / Joomla-SMF 2.0.x / Re: SMF theme not change when new theme is installed and applied on: October 13, 2006, 12:38:03 AM
the bridge caches urls, so this is why it isn't showing immediately.  To clear the cache simply go into JSMF configuration and click save.  Then you will get the correct template.

Oh, i got it already!!!

Thanks so much!!!  Wink

really learn a lot from u! Thanks for ur guidance! Smiley

Does anyone here know how to change the way the news is displayed so I can have more than 3 articles displayed on the homepage. I also want it so every article looks the same instead of the most recent article stretching across the content section and the next two only splitting it. I would like every article to stretch across the content section.

I'm working on this now...

However, I haven't found the right coding part/file to make the changes...

I saw something on mosMainBody... is it related?

can anyone please tell me where should i make the changes?

thanks!
