5  Joomla Hacks / Joomla-SMF 1.1.x / Not all users can login in JSMF 1.1.01 + Joomla-SMF Login 1.4 on: April 07, 2006, 06:27:12 AM
Although there are serveral post in this forum that deal with login problems, my problem is quite different from what I've read in them. That's why I've started this topic. My apologies if I should have continued one of those instead of starting a new one.

This is my system:

- Joomla 1.0.8
- SMF 1.1 RC2
- JSMF 1.1.01
· Wrapped
- Joomla-SMF Login 1.4

This is my problmem

- MOST of my users login and out normally but at least 4 users have reported to get a "Wrong user or password" when they try yo login using Joomla-SMF login 1.4
- The login is correct when loging directly in SMF (the user and password ARE correct, I've checked it myself)

I have not found yet something in common in those users with login problems. As I said, I only know of 4 users having problems (but there will be certaintly more) in a database of almost 20,000

Any ideas of what should I be checking?
6  Joomla Hacks / Joomla-SMF 1.1.x / Re: major security flaw on: April 04, 2006, 03:47:03 PM
The other day I saw something that quite impressed me... I got an error message which showed me my user name and passsword!!! After the first shock I tested that the message only tells you YOUR user name and password so, unless you have not closed the session, someone else is using the computer and you have the "bad luck" of obteining that error... I think it's not something to should worry much about it

I'm not a code-writer, but little by little I'm becoming a "code-reader"... The code line reported by poohui dõm is very, very similar (if not the same) to the error message I saw. I guess they're related

In my particular case, it showed up trying to use CB (I can't remember what I was doing exactly), but now I know that my problems are caused by a low "memory_limit" value in my php.ini.

I don't know if any of this information is relevant or useful... but just in case...

Maybe i will modified some text strings.
- revertir cambios -> deshacer cambios
- es modificable -> modificable / permitido
----
Tal vez modificaria algunas cadenas
- revertir cambios -> deshacer cambios
- es modificable -> modificable / permitido

I agree with you in "es modificable". It sounds better simply "modificable", but I still think "revertir" is the best word for the function that link has. I've updated the two files of my previous post with that little change. Thanks for the suggestion
----------------------------

Although there is a "language" directory in the official Joomla-SMF_1.1.01.zip file which includes dutch, english, german, polish and spanish the only language available after install is English. On the one hand english.php is the only file copied by smf.xml file. On the other hand, even though I copied spanish.php manually, most of the options didn't show up. Probably that spanish.php comes from a previous version.

That's why I decided to make a full translation of both spanish.php and README_FIRST.hml and modify smf.xml so that spanish.php is copied together with english.php. I've tested it in my site and it works OK for the Spanish language. You can find two files attatched to this post. The firs one is a full English/Spanish installation. The second one is just the Spanish language file which you can just uncompress in your /administrator/components/com_smf/language Joomla/Mambo directory. I have not included other languages as I don't know if their translation is correct

Hope someone finds it useful!

10  Joomla Hacks / Joomla-SMF 1.1.x / Simple Machines News Post Module does not use the brigde on: April 02, 2006, 09:47:20 AM
The module Simple Machines News Post Module worked perfectly with Orstio's Bridge, but has some issues in JSMF 1.1.01. The links "Read more" and "Comment" direct to SMF but unwrapped, they do not make use of the bridge. Example:

This is what they link: ("foro" is SMF's URL)

http://www.videoedicion.org/foro/index.php?topic=27325.0
http://www.videoedicion.org/foro/index.php?action=post;topic=27325.1

This is what they should (and would using Orstio's Bridge)

http://www.videoedicion.org/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=30&topic=27325.msg132387
http://www.videoedicion.org/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=30&action=post;topic=27325.0

I guess this is a module issue, which was probably designed to work with Orstio's bridge, but I publish this post in this forum in case it could help to increase JSMF's compatibility with other modules.

Any idea to solve this will be extremely welcome.

Thanks

Thank you very much indeed for your help, Wolverine, and when I say so I REALLY mean THANKS. Me and my server have gone crazy trying to fix an excessive CPU ussage which in the end turned up to be Orstio's bridge fault. I won't get you bored with the details. The end of this story is that, when I was most desparate, your brigde came to save me... It worked with just a few clics... and all my problems were gone, all of a sudden. The only bug was the one I mentioned at the beginning of this thread. Before I posted this topic I read and read and read... and tried, and tried and tried... Of course I uninstalled and installed, I tried older versions... Everything in my hand.

This afternoon I uninstalled EVERYTHING and started from the very beginning. I don't know if the sequence in which components and modules are installed is relevant, just in case here is what I've done, and now all my problems are gone. Until this moment the problem with the PM's, as I said before, was innevitable whatever I did.

1. Installed SMF 1.1RC2
2. Installed Joomla! 1.0.8
3. Installed Joomla-SMF Forum 1.1.01
4. Installed smf_login 1.4
4.1 Then I tested if I could access PM's. OK
5. Installed mod_smf_recent_topics 1.7.1
5.1 Tested again
6. Happy ending  Cheesy

Although I've been able to solve the problems on my own I'm really thankful that you were willing to offer me your help.

Again. Thanks!
12  Joomla Addon Discussion / Joomla Modules / smf_recent_topics 1.7.1 causing troubles in smf_login 1.4 PM's links on: March 31, 2006, 04:45:08 PM
The link action=pm is not longer working since I've installed smf_recent_topics 1.7.1. It doesn't matter if you click in "Messages" inside the smf_login 1.4 module or if you use the link separately. No error message shows up. It simply does nothing at all. Curiously enough all the other PM related links do work. That's it:

action=pm;f=outbox -> Show all the sent messages
action=pm;sa=search -> Does a search inside the private messages
action=pm;sa=manlabels -> Show the labels

... and so on and so forth

Any ideas of how to solve this issue?

Thanks a lot in advance

PS: I'm using the following setup:

- Joomla 1.0.8
- SMF 1.1RC2
- Joomla-SMF 1.1.01

You can test it here: http://www.videoedicion.org
