To note: It does post the topic, but I am thrown out of the Joomla site and to the main install of SMF, which kinda defeats the point of the bridge.

Are you sure that SMF's index.php is patched by the bridge? People play with SMF and forget to patch! =)

I'm not sure if this plays any role in the problem, but i've just found out that the link the forum is giving for a [random] new post is:

while the same post is not showing as new in Mod RecentTopics, linking to:

Oh, and by the way -- you do, too! I've read and replied to this topic via the Recent Topics on the Joomlahacks.com frontpage, and when i checked the forum the thread was still showing as unread ;-)

Just letting you know that i've got the same problem too -- posts in SMF are still considered "unread" when someone has read them via Recent Topics...

I'm having the same problem, with the following setup:

What shows up when i try to change a name via the profile tab, when accessing the forum in wrapped mode inside Joomla!, is:

A [not so weird] workaround is running SMF standalone, changing the name, then running Joomla's administration, and changing your name there too, via the User Manager. But that's not what it's about...
