No, it doesn't.
I tested this on a forum and the following occurs:
First, the forum is installed at mydomain.com/forum - as a point of reference
I log in via joomla to the forum and the board shows correctly as http://mydomain.com/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,28/board,9.0/
If I try and reply to, or create a new thread, when hitting the "post" button, it redirects me back to mydomain.com/forum
To note: It does post the topic, but I am thrown out of the Joomla site and to the main install of SMF, which kinda defeats the point of the bridge.

Are you sure that SMF's index.php is patched by the bridge? People play with SMF and forget to patch! =)
