1  Joomla Hacks / Joomla-SMF 2.0.x / Re: Logged in but not really logged in?? on: October 21, 2007, 11:40:48 AM
I never did get this sorted out and ended up uninstalling the component, despite it being right up my alley since I host a game movie site.

2  Joomla Hacks / Joomla-SMF 2.0.x / Re: How to patch? on: September 19, 2007, 06:40:34 PM
Go here and download the JSMF 2.0.2.1,
unwrap the package,
if you are upgrading from 2.0.2, simply upload the new smf.class.php file (found in the folder you just un-wrapped) and upload it to components/com_smf,
Go to the Joomla Control panel > Components > Joomla-SMF Forum > Install > [un-patch] followed by "click to patch". There are two, I did both.

I clicked unpatch and click to patch and that seemed to do the trick. It now works with my smf upgrade.

Now I'm going to upgrade Joomla to 1.0.13  Smiley

Trying to figure out how to upgrade. I did what was said in the first post

NOTE: For people who wish to upgrade from 2.0.2, simply upload the new smf.class.php file into components/com_smf.

I uploaded the smf.class.php, but nothing changed, I still show 2.0.2 in my control panel?

I searched the site using 'Upgrade' and read through 4 pages of searches but nothing speaks directly to how to upgrade to latest version. Whenever I do find the question I only find "Search the forums" and "Read the User Guide".
I checked the user guide, several times and even used search for 'Upgrade' and again came up with nothing.

I am reasonably sure that all I need to do is go to the control panel > Components > Joomla-SMF Forums > Install > unpatch first and click to patch and verify.
But because I am unable find anything to confirm this, I'm a bit hesitant to begin.
6  Joomla Addon Discussion / Joomla Components / Statistics stopped working after installing somebody else's template?? on: September 04, 2007, 10:19:23 AM
Somebody posted their template in another forum. I installed it on my site, and now statistics no no longer work on any of my templates. Might be a coincidence or not, I do not know.
I tried using astatspro, Joomlastats, and BSQ, none are recording the stats.

The only stats I see are in Joomla Control panel and Whos online module, which shows for example 10 visitors, 5 members but none of the stat components mentioned see them, even my webhost is no longer recording stats from my site. It is almost as if my stats are being re-directed somewhere else  Huh

Anybody got any idea as to what happened and how to fix it. I'm thinking it has something to do with me using the other persons template he was and is still using on his site. But I could be wrong.

Thanks in advance.

7  Joomla Hacks / Joomla-SMF 2.0.x / Logged in but not really logged in?? on: June 12, 2007, 02:11:52 AM
I installed JReviews today and I'm experiencing a problem with not being logged in, despite showing that I am. This came to light because I am not able to post Reviews with JReviews, without having to log out and back in again.

In the past I have had members post in JoomlaComment as being logged in but showing as unregistered. This did not seem to interrupt with the site so I just let it go.

But with JReview it is causing a problem.

The only thing I can think of is that the problem must lay somewhere between CB, JSMF and Joomla.
I use the SMF registration system and the Joomla-SMF login module.

Any suggestions/assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks

As a footnote, I do not use CB and would love to uninstall it but I don't know if I can without it causing problems with JSMF.
8  Joomla Hacks / Joomla-SMF 2.0.x / Need advise on CB/SMF registration and PM settings. on: May 06, 2007, 12:40:10 AM
Over the past 6 months I've got this 'on again' and 'off again' relationship with Comminuty Builder. I can't decide whether or not I want it.
To begin with, I like all the features that CB profile has to offer, and would like to use CB for that reason.

Problem #1 is, I prefer SMF Private messaging system.
As of yet I have not figured out how to get a SMF PM button in CB profile or how to get around this so members can continue to use the SMF PM (maybe it can be done or maybe not, I don't know). There are a number of PM selections in the control panel, and frankly I don't know which one if any apply to the SMF messaging.

Problem #2 is, I prefer registering through SMF than CB, but the CB login module notifies if there is a connection request. Is their another way to be notified of connection requests?
And if I have to use the CB login module, will it notify me if I have any messsages from the SMF private messaging system?
Also, if I use the CB login module, will it still allow visitors to register through SMF?

I know all the options are there, but will it work? Although I haven't had CB available to my members for several months now, it has been running quietly in the background, so users old and new should still be synchronized.
Before I do anything I want to make sure what I can do and what I can't so I don't mess anything up.

A lot of questions I know, but your answers would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You simply type it in your content article.
10  Joomla Hacks / Joomla-SMF 2.0.x / Re: Need a Guide for moving my site on: February 20, 2007, 08:46:39 AM
Got it done Smiley

Here are the steps I took, in case anybody else is looking for a guide.
1.   Export database to desktop structure and data save as file (a just in case back up)
2.   Download site files off ftp to desktop (a just in case back up)
3.   Uninstalled modules related the JSMF
4.   Uninstall CB SMF plugins
5.   Uninstall Discussbot Plug in
6.   Control Panel Components>Joomla-SMF Forum>Install>Unpatched SMF Source File
7.   Control Panel Components>Joomla-SMF Forum>Install>Unpatched Joomla Source Files
8.   Uninstalled component - control panel>Installers>Component>Uninstall
9.   Export database ‘Structure and Data’ save as file
10.   Download site files off ftp to desktop for new site.
11.   Upload site and database to new ftp.
12.   Installed database
13.   Made adjustments in the root configuration.php file so everything is pointing to the right url and database
14.   IMPORTANT: SMF wasn’t working but I found http://docs.simplemachines.org/index.php?topic=663 which fixed all the settings
15.   Installed JSMF component.
16.   Installed SMF CB login, and modules

Thanks for the help Livebox  Smiley

Ok, so I'll continue forward with the uninstall  Smiley

Thanks

Awesome, everything is un-installed and the site is still running.
I'm a paranoid sort  Smiley
12  Joomla Hacks / Joomla-SMF 2.0.x / Re: Need a Guide for moving my site on: February 19, 2007, 08:59:14 AM
Just read the Links and the User Guide off JSMF. Every thing is writen in these documents

Extra Tip: Install an WAMP or XAMP server local on your PC and Play with it. @ this way you can learn how bacuping and so on works. Search with google on WAMP or XAMP.

Hi Livebox,
Today I will try to move the site to the other host.
I un-patched the SMF Source File and all went well.
I un-patched the Joomla Source files and my site stopped working.
Am I suppose to only un-patch the SMF Source Files?
I haven't un-installed the component yet, just in case. I re-patched the Joomla Source files and the site is back.

Before I go do something that isn't reversible I thought I better ask.
I've read the user guide but can't find anything on un-installing the bridge.

Also, you mention uploading SMF and Joomla separately, but they share the same database, how do I separate that or do I?

Appreciate the help

Tom

edit: I removed the login module, to see if that was causing the problem, and got this error message
Quote
Fatal error: Undefined class name 'jsmffrontend' in /mnt/w0302/d26/s30/b028eecf/www/gamerztheatre.com/modules/mod_smf_whosonline.php on line 48

Should I just continue and uninstall the component through the normal Joomala>Installers>Components>Uninstall method.
13  Joomla Hacks / Joomla-SMF 2.0.x / Re: Need a Guide for moving my site on: February 09, 2007, 10:49:52 PM
Well this is all over my head, perhaps I should pass on it. I can't even figure out how to unpatch the bridge.

14  Joomla Hacks / Joomla-SMF 2.0.x / Re: Need a Guide for moving my site on: February 09, 2007, 02:19:30 PM
So I move Joomla and SMF separately and than re-apply the JSMF bridge when they are both set up on the new host?

By unpatching the bridge, do u mean uninstall? And if so, do I uninstall it before I make the move? I was hoping I could make a mirror image of my site and when it is ready I could just move the domain over so there is no interruption, since it will take me a few days to do all this.

15  Joomla Hacks / Joomla-SMF 2.0.x / Need a Guide for moving my site on: February 09, 2007, 12:29:16 PM
I am planning on moving my site to a new webhost.

I currently have Joomla, CB and SMF using the JMSF bridge.

Can somebody explain to me (or link me to), what the steps are to successfully move my site so I don't lose the information that is already there.
I think I would start by downloading my current site off my current ftp and upload it to the new ftp, but I am not even sure about that.

Thanks
