I have taken a quick look at the code and from this I feel that this bridge is illegal. If you check the file:
smf.class.php you will see that many of the class member functions are triggered from the SMF code base (well this is what the comments imply) :
for example (there are many of these):

If these functions are indeed called from SMF it's self then it means that GPL functions are being utilised directly in a non-gpl application. This is illegal.
Disclaimer: Like I have said, I have only gone over the code quickly and I have made my assumption based on what is implied from the comments. I may be wrong.
BTW I have posted in the Joomlahacks forum about this thread and I hope to see some technical feedback here soon.

I am not sure how it was offtopic, but I would suggest that someone such as yourself who has invested so much time in the Joomla platform should think very carefully about the people who you are dealing with at Joomla.
I would like to invite you to the JCD-A forums for further discussion on your bridge.
This is due to the fact that the Joomla forums are now controlled by rouge elements and your comments are likely to be deleted.
