1  Joomla Hacks / Joomla-SMF 2.0.x / Re: Hide Forum on: September 13, 2006, 11:31:30 AM
i have the same problems to, but i solved the problem by actually moving the forum from /forum to /forum123

and then all i need to do is change the configuration file in smf's config.php so the server settings will look the forum from /forum to /forum123, and after that i change the jsmf module to find the forum at /forum123, after that the problem is solved... no one knows the right address for my forum since it's wrapped in joomla, and every body should find the forum by entering the main joomla screen first...

i don't know if this method has a weakness yet, is it possible for members to actually see the forum's direct url by looking at the joomla link ??

thanks in advance.

ps : please forgive my bad english.

previous problem solved, thank guys...  Grin

now how can i make so everybody that go directly to www.website.com/forum or www.website.com/forum/index.php will be redirected to http://www.xitizen-x.com/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=26 instead ??

so they can always enter the forum by joomla frontpage first

no, it's the same database name, same database username and password, but different prefixes, joomla prefix is jom_ and smf prefix is smf_

is it possibly because of it ?? do i have to change it so both is using the same prefix (like jomsmf_ for instance, or maybe change smf prefix so it use jos_ like joomla) ??

and if a member is registering in smf forum, i cannot see his id on joomla member database, and vice versa.

thanks in advance...
4  Joomla Hacks / Joomla-SMF 1.1.x / how can i make forum/index.php to be redirected to joomla forum link instead ? on: August 28, 2006, 04:49:05 PM
hello, i new to joomla and smf, i recenty installed joomla on my website (www.xitizen-x.com) and smf forum on (www.xitizen-x.com/forum), and want to have a feature so that my website member can use their username on smf forum without having to register again, or vice versa.

when i googling, one of the plugin that i found is joomla-smf here's my settings :

my jommla database settings is :
database name : joomsmf
database user : joomsmf
database password : 12345
prefix : jom_

my smf forum database settings is :
database name : joomsmf
database user : joomsmf
database password : 12345
prefix : smf_

i have isntalled joomla-smf bridge version 1.1.4.2 with this settings :
smf absolute path : /home1/xitizen/public_html/forum
smf table prefix : smf_
all intallation is sucessfully installed.

but here come the problem, when a user is creating a username in joomla he cannot use the same username on smf, or vice versa. is there something wrong on my installaton settings ??

ps : please forgive my bad english writings, thanks in advance.
