If you want to copy all your existing usernames over to the display names, you can use this query:

Code:
UPDATE smf_members SET realName=memberName

I don't intend to copy the usernames to the display names if smf. Is it possible to just empty the usernames out?

What if the display name in smf will just be emptied upon new member registration. Can this be done? This way members can have their real name in joomla but only display the username in smf.

10  Joomla Addon Discussion / Joomla Components / Re: SMO Ajax Shoutbox 1.0.3 on: April 11, 2006, 05:24:05 PM
There is a little bit of code in the chat box where it deletesor truncates the chatlog data tables to the most recent 50 comments. I disabled that code with no effects.

I stopped using the chat after awhile though as I noticed nobody was posting in the forums anymore LOL

I also did some code that took the chat logs and copied them into forum posts under a topic "Daily Chitchat"

you're welcome to it if you want, let me know and I'll go look for it..

the Forum is SMF 1.1.rc2 though I could modify it for Simpleboard/Joomlaboard if you like..

wow that would be great. can you put it on the configuration menu? also about your code that paste it on the forum, can you paste it the chatlogs by days?

12  Joomla Hacks / Joomla-SMF 1.1.x / moving to another host on: April 03, 2006, 04:57:48 PM
Hi,

i don't know if this is the right board but i just want to ask the process when you are going to move to another host. as what i understand you export the mysql file in your cpanel and then import it to the new host. then should i install joomla first or smf? if i'm going to install joomla how can i install it with the prefix? installation would not allow it and i'm required to empty the table. sorry for the newbie question. appreciate your help

Thanks!

i'm new to php so would like to ask a noob question. where can i find the line where i can change the color of the "Name:" and "Message:" just in between the box and the send message button because I want to change the color. the default color is gray and its the same with my joomla template. i want it to be in contrast so members can see it.

Thanks!
