I see your point. But it is not a problem.
In general, the user logs in to mambo whereever the user logs from.
No, not here. Most user have already complained.
Also, when you get a mail with a notice that a new posting has arrived in athread you watch, what then?
You click on the link in your mail, you get to the forum and you have to login. You login, you get thrown out of the forum to Mambo. You go back to the forum and start searching for the posting!

That's the point.

YOU DA MAN!

Now I'm able to see at least all 265 users which were synched  (out of 2,000). Good job!

What do you mean somewhere? It should just be from when u log from smf or mambo. If you don't see it anymore, it's good. Because that should not even happen.
You are right, that should not happen! Exactly that was my question. When the user clicks on the forum button in the mambo menue and THEN logs in in the forum he should stay in the forum. But that is not the case here. He gets redirected to mambo entrance screen and has to click on the forum button again to get to the forum.

What I have seen was a posting about just this problem but I can't remember where that was.

I use SMF in integrated version in Mambo.

Problem: When a user goes to the forum, logs in vie forum login he gets first redirected to the mambo environmant and has to click again on the menue button to get to the forum.

I have seen this redirection somewhere but I can't remember where and how to avoid this.

Any idea?

Ok get patch2 here. I tested it with 3000 dummy data, it synced well on my demo site.
Hmm, do I really have to go all the way back to use this? Meaning: de-install the MOD in SMF, de-install the component in Mambo, empty the Mambo user table. Insert the patched files into the MOD and the component and then re-install everything?

I just overwrote the 2 files in the live installation, went to the Mambo admin, again clicked on "Click to synch" the user tables, but nothing changed.

yes but what if i want to make a user a news publisher??? i have a user who wants to be news publishe, i was trying to give him permissions since a week ago but i can't, even when he login logout from mambo or from smf i can't see him in the user manager of mambo, anyway the sync i think it is ok, i can see using phpmyadmin ALL users but only about 20% are listed in the user manager, i don't understand why, maybe a bug in mambo Roll Eyes Huh
I have the same problem here. I need to make some people responsible for different parts of Mambo, one of them as a substitute for me as superadmin. But I can't because I don't get his name on the list (although he's one of the lucky 10% of users which were sych'd from the smf user table to the mambo user table.).
What's worse: 90% of the smf users aren't even in the mambo user-table, so I can't let them do anything in Mambo, except read the contents. Logging in and out of SMF does not alter anything here.
I have to let the substitute register with a second ID now so that I can take 2 days off!

It'slike Gandalf says.

A detailed description of the situation:

smf and mambo tables installed in the same database.
I converted a phpBB database of around 2,000 users and more than 70,000 postings (64MB) to the smf installation and there all users were integrated in the database, all users are listed in the smf users list and the forum works without errors.

Then I installed the MamboSMF Integration component - no errors.
Then I installed the SMFMambo MOD package in SMF without errors - all in the green.
Then I went to the Mambo admin page and to the component configuration, according to the installation instructions.
There I filled in the correct path to the smf installation, marked the checkbox for existing SMF user data. All signs are showing green and "installed" or "done".
Then I clicked on "Patch mambo index.php file" and it changed to a green "done".
Then I clicked on "click to sync" in fromnt of "Synchronize Mambo and SMF users" and I get thrown out of the admin screen. A login for the admin screen is showing. I login, go to the configuration of the integration component and there the "click to sync" is still there.

I checked the user table mos_users and it shows only 262 users (I had cleaned it out before, leaving only the admin user).
I checked the user management screen in mambo administration and the list shows only 3 users. But the line underneath says that there are 262 users. In all listed pages (22) the line says that it's showing user 21-30 or 31-40, etc. but no users are listed.

Versions:
Mambo 4.5.1b
com_mambo_smf_integration_1.3b2.zip
SMFMamboMod_1.3b1a.zip

I think your issue should be solve by this SMFMamboMod_1.3.0.b1a.zip.
It's on the announcement board. component/option,com_smf/Itemid,66/expv,0/topic,168.0
Could this help in my case as well (not synching all users)?

More info:

Those users (262) who are in the mos_users database have to log in first in the forum and after they have been in the forum once they are also able to login via Mambo. All other users can not login via Mambo, even if they have visited the forum before.

But then again still those 260 users of the mos_users table are not listed in the user table in Mambo administration, although the statistic line beneath the list says that there are 22 pages of users.

This thing is giving me the creeps. Just moving this phpBB forum into a new environment keeps me busy now for more than 5 days - without having finished the task yet!

No, we just tested it with a group of users. Those who are among the first 262 can login via Mambo, the others can not. All users who are not synch'd can only login in the forum and only use the forum. They are not able to use Mambo functions (writing news, etc.).

26  Joomla Hacks / Mambo-SMF 1.3.x / Re: Only partly integrated user database on: April 27, 2005, 01:39:14 PM
ok, did a complete new installation:

1. Mambo 4.5.1b is installed
2. SMF 1.0.3 is installed
3. phpBB2 is installed

all 3 databases are in one database, (mos_, phpbb_ and smf_)

Converted the phpBB_db into smf_db  - no errors
Installed the SMF Mambo Integration component (1.3b1) - no errors
In smf installed the MOD - no errors
In Mambo Admin went to Components - SMF-Mambo Integration - Configure
Filled in the path and marked the box "Existing SMF userdata" - no errors
Clicked on "Patch mambo index.php file" - changes to green "done"
Clicked on "click to sync" to synchronize the user database - get thrown out and I see the admin login for the Mambo administration.

After that I look at the user list in Mambo administration and again:
It tells me that there are 262 users but listed are only 2. All other pages just tell me they show "21 - 30 of 262" or 31 - 40 of 262" but no users are listed.
In SMF I have 2,000 users, all are listed in SMF

So it has to be the synch routine which barfs at a large user database, I presume. Is there any way to fix that or synch manually (using phpMyAdmin)?

I have moved this issue here from the 1.2.0 Bugs section.

I use Mambo 4.5.1b, SMF 1.0.3 and SMF Mambo Integration 1.3.0

In the SMF user database I have 2,000 users. In Mambo SMF Integration configuration I click on "click to synch" for the user data (all other items are marked as "installed" or "done").
Then I get thrown out to a login screen of the Mambo admin page.

After that I checked the user table in phpMyAdmin and there were now 262 users.
Back in Mambo admin I checked the user management and there are just the 2 listed which I registered before in Mambo (admin and 1 user). But the line underneath the userlist lists many pages and says: "1-10 of 262" !
When I click on other page numbers there are no users listed but the line underneath says "11-20" (in page 2) or "261-262 of 262" on the last page.

So it looks as if the user integration only integrated 260 users and then stopped for some reason. Funny thing is, I can log in in Mambo with one of the other user-ids (above the 262).

Some more information:

In the SMF user database I have 2,000 users. In Mambo SMF Integration configuration I click on "click to synch" for the user data (all other items are marked as "installed" or "done".
As I said, I get thrown out and I have to log in as admin in the Mambo admin page.

I guess there's something wrong with registration in Mambo?

Edit: No, Mambo registration is fixed and I can now register new users. Thanks to a similar thread about user registration in the 1.3 Bugs section.
I'm taking the other problem to the 1.3.0 Bugs section now.

Following this I have a question:

I installed all kinds of new things like Mambo, SMF, SMF Integration 2 Mambo. During installation I had to set lots of directories and files to 0777 which IMHO is a big security hole.
Could someone post a list of files (SMF and SMF Integration) which have to stay writable after Installation is done? All others could be reset to 0644 (or 755 for folders), right?
