1  Joomla Hacks / Joomla-SMF 1.1.x / Re: Joomla-SMF 1.1 on: March 28, 2006, 07:22:12 PM
I have that quoting problem as well. Nobody can click on the quote button to start a reply with the quotation already inserted. The reply editor just does not open. My 2 workarounds:

1. Rightclick on the "Quote" button and in the mouse menue choose 'Open'.

or

2. Klick on the reply button to get an open editor, then go to the previous message and click on the 'Insert quote' link.

Both solutions work with Firefox, Konqueror and Opera under Linux. About Windows I don't know.

Fixed. It did not install the language files. After I ftp'd them manually, everything worked.

Sorry, but does not work at all. I uninstalled the bridge version RC2_patch3 and installed this final version and ended up with an empty screen in the admin configuration of the bridge.
I used the admin installer to de-install the old bridge and to install the new one and there was no error message, just the usual success message and "continue...".

Re-installing the old bridge showed the same result so now I'm without any bridge. Sad

Joomla-SMF 1.1 Final is released, please upgrade.
Nice advise. Good thing I tested that on the testweb first. I uninstalled the bridge v.1.1RC2 first (using the admin menue (installer). I checked: the forum link was gone from the Joomla! menue. Both Joomla! and SMF work fine as stand alone apps.

Then I installed the com_joomla_smf_forum_1._1.zip with the installer. It showed "success" and "continue" and the component showed up in the admin component menue. I clicked on "Joomla_SMF Forum"-"Configuration" and the page is blank.

Repeated uninstall and installation 2 times, always ended up with a blank page. Then I re-installed the RC2 version of the bridge and - what a surprise: again a blank page.

So, just by uninstalling the RC2-version and installing the final 1.1 bridge I ended up without a bridge at all. As I said, having a testweb is a Good Thing[TM]!

5  Joomla Hacks / Joomla-SMF 1.1.x / Notification of new postings point to SMF in stand-alone mode on: March 25, 2006, 11:43:07 AM
Joomla! 1.0.8
SMF 1.1RC2
Joomla-SMF_1.1RC2_including_patches1-3.zip

I use the forum in wrapped mode and the combined login module in the Joomla! menue. Notification mails point the user to SMF in stand-alone mode. When a notification arrives it gives the user this link:
Code:
http://www.mandrivauser.de/smf/index.php?topic=14435.new;topicseen#new
instead of how it should be:
Code:
http://www.mandrivauser.de/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=93&topic=14435.new;topicseen#new

How can I fix this?

6  Joomla Hacks / Mambo-SMF 1.3.x / Re: Login problem - not yet discussed on: June 27, 2005, 08:00:02 PM
Yes, looks like the problem is solved - at least the problems which made me start this thread. One of my guinea-pig users had the login probs all the time from start and he got so used to need several login attempts that he sent a mail, asking what's wrong because he could login at first try. Smiley

Thanks a lot keymaster!

Are you sure about the version number? Smiley

All I can see is the 1.3.1.x in the announcement and download areas.

8  Joomla Hacks / Mambo-SMF 1.3.x / Login problem - not yet discussed on: May 20, 2005, 07:59:56 PM
Here's a login problem which seems to be different from the already known and/or discussed probs:

Using Mambo 4.5.2, SMF 1.0.3 and MamboSMF 1.3.1

My smf runs inside Mambo and users are known in both parts (aka synched).

Problem:

1. A user logs in in the Mambo sidebar login. He gets an error message "Please fill in username and password correctly!" although he did so and he is logged in after klicking away this message.

2. User logs in in the Mambo login, goes to the integrated smf and has to login again.

3. User logs in in the integrated smf (top menu bar in smf) and is logged in both in Mambo and smf. After a while he gets logged out of Mambo (user menu vanishes) but he is still logged in in smf.

Unforunately problem 1&2 does only occur with some users And I myself don't have these problems.

The problems - if they occur - they show with all browsers in Linux (firefox, opera, galeon, konqueror, ...) and with IE6 in Windows as well.

Looks like a cookie problem, but the problem stays even if the user erases all cookies and re-starts his browser.

URL is http://mandrivauser.de

9  Joomla Hacks / Mambo-SMF 1.3.x / Re: 1.3.0 Login - how to redirect to a specific page on: May 04, 2005, 01:50:03 PM
Yes. We can quickly work on a revision for those who want this kind of feature. We'll let you know when it's out.

EDIT: Ok, it's done. Here's what's gonna happen:
1. If you login from mambo, you will be redirected back to mambo.
2. If you login from SMF, you will be redirected back to SMF.
(or simply, there's no more redirection  Grin).

This is exactly what I've been looking for since installation! I've been keeping users on hold since opening the site on Sunday, telling them that someone is working on the problem. Here it is so that no matter where a user logs in, Mambo or SMF, he gets redirected to Mambo.

I hope you're releasing this patch ASAP, I'm checking this site all the time although I've activated notification. Smiley

Well, the pb is fixed and all the eye-candy folks are happy - and so am I.
What interests me: The file is only a bit more than half the size of the original functions_smf.php. What did you leave out? Was all the other stuff obsolete?

Yes, this asynchronous session management is not a real issue, it just cought me by surprise. The real issue is the redirection, err, rather "one of the real issues" with this new environment ... Sad

OK, one more to the "He who is logged in in Mambo is also logged in in smf and vice versa" theory:

Mambo default session length is set to 60, smf is set to 120 (in my login screen in smf). So, after 1 hour Mambo kicks me out but I'm still logged in in smf. I tried that several times now, setting session length to a couple of minutes as test. It works like that.
Funny thing: When Mambo kicks me out and I am still logged in in smf I can nevertheless re-login in Mambo without any problem.  Or is this ignoring of the bilateral login management a "feature"? Smiley

actually there was, when you get notified for a new post in board or new topic... the link is incorrect. Maybe that's why you're ask to login.
That was just an example with the need to login when getting a notification. And it will stay like that because we have several closed sections where the user has to login before he can read something. In the phpBB we used before that was not an issue. You clicked on the link in your mail, the browser opended to the forum and you were asked to login. After login you were directed to the posting you wanted to see.

But that's not the general issue. The genereal issue is:

1. User comes to the site
2. User sees menue button for the forum
3. User clicks on menue button and goes to the forum
4. User logs in
5. User gets logged in but also gets kicked back to the Mambo entrance page and has to click again on the menue button to get back to where he wanted to go in the first place.

That's it.

get the stable release, I fixed the notification issue.
uninstall the previous mod and install the new one.
What notification issue? There is none, at least not here. The issue is that you get redirected to the Mambo entrance page when you login in the forum. I mentioned the notification as an example how annoying this redirect is. Or does the new version does away with this redirect?
