I now fully get this - I am sorry it has taken so long.  The problem I believe was that I was using 3rd party installation programs for both - then I was manually upgrading them.  I am in the process of manually installing joomla, etc.

I would love to be one the to write the Idiot's book on installing joomla, smf and joomla-smf.....

Thanks for staying with me.

Am I installing a new database or table manually?

To clarify my question:  I need to install the two tables (smf_ and jos_) into the same database which resides in the joomla directory and is named sinus2_joom1 (database name)....

Peace.

I know that the smf_ tables MUST be installed in the same database as the joomla tables.....

Can I move them around via FTP, CPanel, HuhHuh

How do I do that? I have been googling for this and I have been having a hard time coming up with something that answers the question.

I took me awhile to upgrade my smf to 1.1RC2 - however I finally was able to get it running.  I am now at the point where I have uploaded my JoomlaSMF bridge 1.1RC2 (with patches) and I uploaded the component successfully.

Now I am at the Joomla-SMF Configuration area in Joomla.  My settings are as follows:

absolute path:  /home/sinus2/public_html/smf
database prefix:  smf_

When I go to save settings I get the "red words" prefix incorrect underneath my database prefix: smf_

I have double checked that prefix in smf admin panel and it is correct and I am now wondering if I need to change it to jos_?

However I am scared to do it.....

Am I on the right track?

Thanks for the info - I need some clarification on a couple of things.  When you say install database prefixes jos_ and smf_ where is that done in cpanel?  Does that mean "to create a database"?

What is an absolute path and when do you use that path?

Gracias

8  Joomla Hacks / Joomla-SMF 1.1.x / Idiot's guide needed for joomla-smf install on: March 15, 2006, 08:45:53 AM
I have a couple of questions:

I have joomla 1.08 installed in it's own folder in my public_html folder.  I have smf installed in it's own folder in my public_html folder.  My smf version is 1.1rc2

I am trying to integrate joomla and smf.  My joomla database is sinus2_joom1

When it says to install the bridge on the "same database"  does that mean that I install the bridge on sinus2_joom1?

I am desperately trying to integrate these two and I need an idiot's guide to do it.

Any help would be appreciated.....

9  Joomla Hacks / Joomla-SMF 1.0.x / Is there integration for smf 1.06? on: March 08, 2006, 11:52:38 PM
I apologize in advance if this is in the wrong place.  My host only provides a one click install for smf 1.06.  I have tried to upgrade and install smf to 1.1rc however I can't get it to work because I don't know what I am doing.

I am running joomla 1.08 and I want an integrated smf board - are there any other bridges out there that will work fairly easily with smf 1.06?

Any advice or info would be helpful.

Thanks in advance.

Lauren
