1  Joomla Hacks / Joomla-SMF 2.0.x / Re: Non-ASCII characters not displaying in content titles on: July 09, 2007, 04:58:33 AM
I've got a similar issue but it's on my whole site. Weird combinations instead of the real letters. They show up just fine in the wrapped forum, but on the joomlapage it's all messed up so it has to do with the patch.

In my case, it was indeed the JSMF patch. You seem to be having a somewhat different problem, however. Maybe related. Obviously you could deactivate or de-install JSMF and verify that this is the problem.
2  Joomla Hacks / Joomla-SMF 2.0.x / Non-ASCII characters not displaying in content titles on: April 03, 2007, 10:38:01 AM
I am finding that non-ASCII characters (e.g., Euro, British Pound, ellipsis, curly quotes) do not display correctly in Joomla content titles. However, they display fine in content body (Intro Text and Full Text).

I tried a default install of Joomla 1.0.12 and it does not have this problem. Extended characters display fine in content titles.

So... I'm wondering if any of the JSMF patches could be causing this. To my knowledge, the only other component I'm using that actually patches J! files is JACL+ and I've posted this question on their forum as well.

Thanks.
3  Joomla Hacks / Joomla-SMF 2.0.x / Re: JSMF uses avatar before CB approval on: December 03, 2006, 03:17:05 PM
currently there is no functionality in CB to handle this type of situation.  I have requested it to be added:

http://forge.joomla.org/sf/go/artf6963?nav=1
http://www.joomlapolis.com/component/option,com_joomlaboard/Itemid,38/func,view/catid,31/id,26144/#26144

If I don't sync an avatar until it is approved I lose any chance of syncing it.  So for now, it is either auto approve or nothing.

Thank you for making that effort.

I'm using CB for registration, but JSMF Login module for login.

If CB is set to require avatar approval, and you then upload an avatar within your CB profile, SMF and the JSMF Login module use the avatar before it has been approved by a CB administrator.

This could easily cause huge embarrassment to a serious site.

Throwing a lot of errors?  I am receiving none.  So yes, you will need to post these errors first.

As previously mentioned here:
http://www.joomlahacks.com/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,94/topic,2365.msg11517#msg11517

the Recent Topics module does not work with certain other components, including iJoomla (commercial magazine layout component) and Missus (private messaging).

Since the module is conflicting with more than one other extension, I thought we might try to isolate the problem here before going to the other devs (if necessary). If the Recent Topics module is loaded on a page with either of those other components, it throws this error in the Joomla front end:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: () in /public_html/smf/Sources/Subs.php on line 871

Further, in the server error logs, I have PHP errors relating to my J! directory (same error 3 times) and SMF directory (same error as in front end):

[22-Nov-2006 12:14:13] PHP Notice:  Unknown column 'id' in 'where clause' in /public_html/joomla/includes/database.php on line 292
[22-Nov-2006 12:14:13] PHP Notice:  Unknown column 'id' in 'where clause' in /public_html/joomla/includes/database.php on line 292

Wolverine: Can I help as a tester to get mod_smf_recenttopics_2_0 working? It's throwing a lot of errors. Would a listing of J! or server error logs be useful to you?

The Latest Subjects module seems not to work with iJoomla v.2 beta. Produces this error:

"Fatal error: Call to undefined function: () in /smf/Sources/Subs.php on line 871"

Module is OK on any other Joomla page. Weird. Anyone else use iJoomla?

----

Later: sorry, I should have searched first. This was reported in Sept., and in Nov. someone added that the module also fails with Missus 1.1, which I can also confirm.
