I just installed the Joomla-SMF Integration version is 1.1 RC2 patch3 and I think it may have fixed it.  I will do some further testing. 

I don't know much about the Rewrite mod, is there anyone that can explain how to  use it to check for /Forum/ urls and replace w/ the joomla component urls.

I'm using smf 1.1 rc2, joomla 1.0.7, bridge 1.1 rc1

When I use the send topic feature of smf, the url it sends is the direct link to the forum instead of the joomla component link. 

i.e
     http://www.piercefield.com/Forum/index.php?topic=16.0
instead of
     http://www.piercefield.com/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,190/topic,16.0
How can I fix this?

SMF 1.0.5
Mambo-SMF Forum 1.3.1.3

Everything seems to be working well except...
When I login using firefox it hangs and the user name and password are left displayed in the address bar, and the frontpage of my joomla will not load.  The odd thing is in Internet Explorer I do not have this problem, everything logs in fine. 

Please help!

Well as usual I answered my own question 5 min after taking the time to post. 
The answer is:

in the parameter: Flashchat URL
not only should you leave out the http:// as suggested but also the www.

Wish that was in the suggestion, would have saved me hours.
but that would have not been fun as this has been..

I have this mod working great except for one minor problem.  The link to login to the flashchat only brings up the flashchat login screen, however I want to be able to go directly into my flashchat if I'm already logged in.  I can do this if I just create a menu link to flash chat, but I cannot get the link on the mod_whosonline_ext mod to do this.  It just takes me to the flashchat login screen where I have re-enter my login information if I want to chat. 

Anyone got any suggestions? 

it does not seem like it would take much to fix. but my php and javascript is weak.
