Okay, that's good news and bad news, Gary. Smiley

Good because that's the way I did it. Bad, because that's the way I did it. Yet the Joomla bridge config doesn't recognize an installation. Does this mean I need to move some things around?

If I need to dump on install, I can uninstall SMF and I can uninstall the JoomlaSMF component if I really need to. But I need to know what I should do differently.

I installed SMF from Fantastico, then updated it manually with my FTP client and SMF's upgrade.php component. JoomlaSMF was installed in the usual Joomla fashion.

I need to know where I need to do things differently. Let me know if you need more information.

Wait a minute,if you install smf with Fantastico it gets its own database.

No.

Install Joomla with fantastico, than manually install SMF making sure the SMF tables are intalled in the Joomla database and nowhere else.

The SMF_ prefix thingie will work fine.

Install went fine, but at the top of the forum page I'm getting this error message:

Notice: Constant WIRELESS already defined in /home/femcom/public_html/forum/index.php on line 78

4  Joomla Hacks / Joomla-SMF 1.1.x / smf_ fix install fix on: June 24, 2006, 12:36:31 PM
If you're running into that smf problem on install, here's the fix: the smf files have to be dumped in the joomla database not set-up in their own database.

So, on install simply give path to existing Joomla database so the smf install can place its tables there.

This means no new database in sysADmin, only one -- the joom or joomla database that contains both the joomla tables and the smf tables.

Ok, here's the fix: the smf files have to be dumped in the joomla database as tables so they can be accessed by joomla.

So, on install simply give path to yourname_joom

or whatever.

This means no new database in sysADmin, only one -- the joom or joomla database that contains both the joomla tables and the smf tables.

I tried it a few minutes ago and it worked fine.

How about a work around if you can't rid of the bug?
