16  Joomla Hacks / Joomla-SMF 1.1.x / Re: Failed: Code to be patched not found in file: - Yes I have read the other post on: June 16, 2006, 02:41:25 AM
Either your index.php is not the original 1.0.9 index.php, or you are not using the last version of the Bridge. Delete both index.php and its backup, upload the original index.php, chmod, and try again.
17  General Discussion / Techies Zone / Whose wrapper is using the Bridge? on: June 15, 2006, 01:33:00 PM
Asking this because cannot cope with a Two-Pixel problem when the forum is wrapped in any of the classical 247 themes. The forum seems to be laid in a table with a 2 pixel padding takin over the background color of the main forum page. This is especially visible on the right where the vertical line of the wrapper gets broken, displaced to the left by two pixels.

Any suggestions how to fix this issue?

This is a link that should be deleted after the install of the bridge. The installation creates automatically this link in the mainmenu which is kind of "defective" (missing the name of the component, or taking the name of some other component - in my case it took the name of the Feed Gator).

Probably the /forum folder is not 777, and the index.php should also be 777

Make a subdomain out of your joomla directory.

What kind of mod_r are you using on Nuke - GT or Googlifier?
22  General Discussion / SEO Discussion / Making OpenSEF and JSMF Bridge work together well on: June 14, 2006, 05:50:33 AM
Please have a look at this topic at open-sef for a simple way to make the smf-sef addresses even more short and easy to remember.

P.S. Sorry, I didn't realize there is a separate SEO forum here. Could you please move this topic up there.

There are no reasons not to succeed - if permissions are set correctly and original files re-uploaded. In some cases, as I mentioned, index.php must be given 777 permissions - the same as public_html.

This would be then a new install and the upgrade instructions hold no more.

Hi, Christin!

This message means that you have to upload the original Joomla 1.0.9 index.php, set the permissions of the beast to it and 777 permissions to the public_html folder (remember to revert to 750 when everything is OK)

Regards and Metta!

Extended Upgrade Instructions:

  • Delete Forum menu item from mainmenu
  • Open Bridge component config and unpatch the files
  • Uninstall Bridge component
  • Make sure that com_smf folders in /components and /administrator are deleted
  • Set 777 permissions to all relevant folders and 666 to files; in some cases 777 to index.php files will do better
  • Install the new Bridge component
  • Go to mainmenu and delete the automatically generated Forum link
  • Open the Bridge component config and save it at once - if prompted to create a menu element, go and create it
  • Patch the two sets of files
  • Synchronize users and SAVE
  • Configure Bridge
  • Revert back the permissions
  • Send Wolverine 5 bucks to his Moneybookers account

This time worked like a charm! I spent all my day in trying to understand why the discussbot does not work with the new version. With this download you posted now, it worked out of the box, and in OpenSEF environment at that!

pay attention to the Discussion links for the discussbot :-)

Guys, I'll tell Marko from OpenSEF to buy you a beer! Grin

Hi, Teo!

Open the Dutch lang file and move the closing bracket "}" on line 146 to the end of the file, before the ?>

Thanks for the new release! Tested it on one site so far, successfully! Here are my humble suggestions:

1. Dutch and Japanese language files have charset UTF-8 but are saved as Default. This might cause problems.
2. bulgarian.php is not added to the xml file, so will not install

For those of us who have sites on UTF-8 (all my J!1.0.9 installations are on UTF-8), here is the UTF-8 version of the bridge:
  • All language files have now the UTF-8 charset and are saved as UTF-8 along with all other files.
  • Missing languages are added to smf.xml
  • Do not use this UTF version of the bridge with non-UTF sites!

I am still testing, so if there are any probs, I will report them here.

P.S. Joomla 1.0.9 UTF-8 can be downloaded here:

Double definitions for file manipulations, translated but commented.

Here is the Bulgarian translation, and good luck!
