1  Joomla Hacks / Joomla-SMF 2.0.x / Site transfer-Problem with bridging on: April 09, 2008, 11:57:16 AM
Hi
I have recently moved our site from one hosting provider to another.I have transfered all files as they are from one ftp to another and i imported the whole database to the new hosting account with an sql command. The problem is that after i patch joomla files the encoding goes totally wrong and everything is uncomprehensible. In both sites i have used greek utf8 characters, actually i didn't change anything in the database encoding.I have tried every method from unpatching the files before moving them to manually adding the code to index.php but yet nothing.I add the weblinks to both the old and new site.

www.in-xios.gr (the old one that works properly)
http://inxios.sc11.co.uk (the new server look the encoding i have patched joomla files)

Seriously i am looking for an answer because i have seeked help from hosting company but they couldn't help me.Thanks in advance

I updated both Joomla to 1.1.15 kai smf jsmf to 2.0.2.1 from the link you have at your signature locutus.Yet nothing thus it fixed a problem i had with remember me in login.Yet the question marks remain and it is really bothering.
I forgot to mention that in a test server i had with the same things on it it was working perfect.

5  Joomla Hacks / Joomla-SMF 2.0.x / mod_recenttopics don't show recent posts instead it shows ????? on: March 24, 2008, 11:45:02 AM
Hello everybody

I have an installation of Joomla! 1.0.14 RC1 also smf 1.1.4 and cb 1.1

I have installed the module from joomlahacks mod_recenttopics version 2.0.2
The site use Greek characters and language. So does SMF.

The problem i have is that the module instead of showing the post name it shows Huh HuhHuh and the name of the poster(that is in latin character) correct. So i guess it is encoding subject.I have tried everything from changing encoding to phpMyAdmin to changing the output format of the module but yet nothing and i am driving crazy.Any help would be really appreciated

Thanks in advance
