1  Joomla Hacks / Joomla-SMF 2.0.x / Re: Password Recovery Error on: August 25, 2008, 03:14:54 PM
The solution posted works, but it isn't really the correct way to fix the problem.  Hardcoding the database prefix to "smf_members" doesn't address the real problem, which is $jsmfConfig not being in scope.  Here's the correct two line solution...

In the file, \administrator\components\com_smf\admin.smf.class.php

1) Find the function called "updatePass" and add the following line
after "global $database;" ...

global $jsmfConfig;

2) Change the query code from "Where id" to "WHERE ID_MEMBER"
2  Joomla Addon Discussion / Joomla Modules / Joomla-SMF Recent Topics + sh404SEF ? on: February 28, 2008, 04:41:45 PM
I'm currently using the Joomla-SMF Recent Topics 2.0.2 module on my
website (with the JSMF bridge). I recently installed the sh404SEF
joomla component to generate search engine friendly URLs for my website.

The test version of sh404SEF available here...
http://download.siliana.net/
supports SMF now and if you go to my forums, you can see that the URLs
are now search engine friendly, like the rest of my site.

The only problem I have now is that the recent topics module doesn't
pick up the SEF URLs. Is there any way that could happen, or does the
URL rewriting for sh404SEF take place at a different level?

Here's my site if you want to see what I mean...

3  Joomla Hacks / Joomla-SMF 2.0.x / Re: JSMF + comunity builder logout problem on: August 19, 2007, 02:49:49 PM
I figured out what was happening.

I'm running the bridge in unwrapped mode.

There's a configuration option in the JSMF bridge for redirect on logout.

Unfortunately, it only gives you two options:

1. redirect to joomla home
2. redirect to smf

It would be nice if there were a third option that just sends you to the main page of whichever section you're in, joomla or smf.
4  Joomla Hacks / Joomla-SMF 2.0.x / JSMF + comunity builder logout problem on: August 19, 2007, 12:32:18 AM
I have my website set up with Joomla, SMF, Community Builder, the JSMF bridge, and the JSMF CB plugin.  When I logout from my main site, I get redirected to my SMF forum.  I can't figure out why this is happening.  Anyone else having this same problem and/or solved it?
5  Joomla Hacks / Joomla-SMF 2.0.x / Re: first time installation questions not addressed in documentation on: August 12, 2007, 09:05:20 PM
I forgot a more important question...

Where can I download JSMF_2_0_2_unzip1st.zip ?

All of the links in the download section on this site are for just the component by itself...

com_smf_2_0_2.zip

...and don't include the community builder plugin and the joomap plugin mentioned in the documentation.
6  Joomla Hacks / Joomla-SMF 2.0.x / first time installation questions not addressed in documentation on: August 12, 2007, 02:12:27 PM
I'm an experienced software developer with a fair amount of web development experience but this is my first time setting up a Joomla/SMF website.  I'm trying to follow the JSMF documentation but I have some questions that aren't covered in the documentation.

1. wrapped vs unwrapped - this isn't really explained very well.  I assume that when referring to SMF being "wrapped" in Joomla, SMF is an actual page within the joomla site, something akin to old school html frames.  Is wrapped the "preferred" installation.  i.e. the one that will cause me the least problems maintaining?

2. I've seen sites that use http://forums.mydomain.com (a subdomain)  and others that use http://www.mydomain.com/forums.  Is there any pro or con to setting up SMF one way or the other as far as JSMF is concerned?  Does the wrapped/unwrapped thing figure into this at all?

3. Assuming I use joomla 1.0.13, SMF 1.1.3, CB 1.1, and JSMF 2.0.2.x, are there any serious issues that I should watch out for from an installation or maintenance standpoint?  I understand that there are a lot of ways to install and configure everything, but I want to set it up in whichever way will avoid the most problems in the future.
