Title: I'm new and lost!
Post by: sam on June 02, 2008, 11:38:50 AM
Hi All

I'm new to Joomla and trying to be clever, but I'm successfully loosing myself!

I'm building this site - http://chrisyates.codegarden.co.uk/ - and getting myself lost. I want to remove the top right module that says top module empty. But I can't seem to work out how to do it. Also, and this is where I'm baffled. I can't work out how to put content onto my homepage. At the moment it says There are no Items to display, but where can I create a page that sits in this little box.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

S

Hi Sam,

Did you install Joomla with the sample data? If not, I can recommend to reinstall Joomla with the sample data. This will make things more clear...

Sorry about cross posting, didn't realise it was a no no  :-[

In terms of installing it with the sample data, I just installed it as it comes, and then went into the css files to try and remove the modules I didn't want. Is this wrong? Maybe there is a way of turning of modules that I can do through the Joomla menues?

Thanks and again sorry for the forum faux-pas

S

In the installing procedure of Joomla, at the page where it asks for your database username and password, there is an option to select the sample data. You don't have to edit css files to remove anything!

So what to do now?  Remove all your Joomla files via FTP install a fresh copy of joomla and now with sample data. Things will be more clear to you and it will solve your question posted in other topics.
