Hello everyone, I just set up a joomla site and everything looks and works well except I can't use the contact form. When I tried to test it I got a "connection closed by server" message and also when I set up fireboard all looked ok until I tried to make a post. When the submit button is pressed nothing happens for a while and then I get a 404. I am not a "techie" so everything has to be explained very simply. I hope someone can help me please. I at first used phpbb3 and that is on the site now but when I discovered fireboard I installed it and my plan was to get rid of bb3. I like not having to reg twice and fireboard blends in better. If I could get these glitches fixed I can begin promoting and possibly attract admins and mods to my site with more tech skills than myself.(fingers crossed). OH and I didn't mention that when one registers at the site it sends me a notification so I assume the mail funtion is working, correct?

Please note there is a bridge for Phpbb3 and joomla, so users don't have to register twice.

Ah locutus of BORG! Thank you for your response, I really only posted in this forum because of the "Submit" button not working on my Joomla site. The reason I mentioned the forum glitches was to provide as much info as possible just in case the problems were related. I am aware of the FireBoard help forum and the bridge for phpbb3 but thank you very much just the same. I was really hoping I could get some help with my form problem here. I have a file in my root called webformmailer.php and one called gdform.php but I did not know how to reference them in setting up the form properties. I downloaded several form building components and installed them but when I build a form and try to submit it I get the same result no matter which builder I use. This leads me to believe I have a form handling script problem. I just don't know where to start to fix it. I could probably puzzle it out if it was simple html but I don't even know what file handles the form action. Any ideas anyone?

As I read your story, I think your host has a special way of handling email, probably out of security reasons. The easiest way to go is just ask your host, that's why you pay them.
