I am looking forward to using this bridge but it still doesn't work for me :
the installation ran well but now, when I go to my forum, it is impossible to login or to register via the SMF login module (neither from from the speficif additional login module Joomla SMF):
My forum within Joomla is at:

For Joomla 1.0.15, you need JSMF 2.0.2.1. See my signature for the download location. Good luck.

when I try to log in, I obtain the message error (sorry in French):
Une erreur s'est produite ! ("An error occured")
Vous devez attendre environ 15 secondes avant de vous reconnecter, désolé. (you must about 15 seconds before logging in again, sorry")

Did you already sync the users in the installation tab? And did you configure JSMF?

Yes, I've run the install and config ...

here is what I obtain after install:
installed      SMF Forum installed on the same database as Joomla.
done [un-patch]    Patch Joomla Source Files.
done [un-patch]    Patch SMF Source Files (Note: Unpatch before upgrading SMF or installing mod.)
done [verify]    Optional: Synchronize Joomla and SMF users(username or real name).

with your advice, I tried to modify some parameters in the config and I now can register new user, get them logged in and out ... but I can't log in under my admin account (I receive the same error message as previuously, saying that I had to try to reconnect in 15 seconds).

Here are my config settings:
Wrapped Integration Mode:       Enable
Synchronize Usernames Only:    Disable
Hide email address in SMF profile:    Disable
Redirect to Forum on login:    Enable
Redirect to Joomla home on logout:    Enable

I think you are right in the direction to investigate, there must be a sync problem with my user name list ...
Any idea how I could fix it?

i made another trial :
I went back to the instal menu and I click on verify to check the user sync again. Then, when I clicked on "sync usernames", I obtained the following error message (which refer to the new user Aldo94 I created for my test earlier today) :

I think it's better to leave the sync alone. It has been reported to cause errors.

Can you retrieve your admin password by using the "lost password" option? If so can you move around as admin on your website (the joomla and SMF part)

Another idea is to enable the sync option to usernames only in your config. Since you are french and there could be a problem with some accents.

Please note I am not a developer (not for JH anyway) and just helping out. Let me know what the results are.

Following your suggestions, I made the following:

- I "enabalded" all setting in the config (including the usernames)
- I went to my forum SMF (the standalone version) and I created a new account CLatac. the registration went well and I can now connect from this accoint when I am in the SMF standalone forum but ... when I go through the Joomla site (within the bridge), I connot connect via this username/password (it is in fact the same problem with my admin login/password: it works well from the SMF but not from the Joomla)

Any other idea?

You have set the config option to Joomla-SMF inlog module? And you are using the JSMF inlog module? Also set registration system to SMF?

This is really tough ...

What should be the best parameter to set according to you?

You did the above already? and you see the users in SMF and Joomla? You are really, really sure you are using 2.0.2.1?

What I propose before is that start again the install from scratch, taking care before to erase all the old files and the database entries of SMF.

then, I come back to you and update about the new situation. If we find a solution, we will post the solution to the forum.
