Title: Synchronise verify error
Post by: Sam on April 22, 2008, 03:50:57 PM
Hi. I've gone through everything I need to but keep getting this error on verifying..
Failed:Error verifying user synchronization.: db_error:Illegal mix of collations (latin1_swedish_ci,IMPLICIT) and (utf8_general_ci,IMPLICIT) for operation \\\'=\\\' SQL=SELECT count(*) FROM smf_members LEFT JOIN jos_users ON jos_users.username=smf_members.memberName WHERE jos_users.username IS NULL1
I'm new to this so it's probably somthing blindingly obvious that I've not seen
Joomla vers. 1.0.12
smf vers. 1.1.3
Ant help is much apreciated! ;D

Like it said, there is a mix of collations. You can convert joomla 1.0.x to UTF8. I hope you are helped with this link: http://help.joomla.org/component/option,com_easyfaq/task,view/id,94/Itemid,268/

Hi again. I followed the instructions in the link and on checking the mysql version it reads 4.1.11. In the instructions it states.. use MySQL version 4.1.2 or newer (older versions don't support utf-8).
Is there any other way around the problem?  Thanks  ;D

You say, you have mysql 4.1.11. Then your version is newer than 4.1.2. So there is no problem to follow the howto.

BTW if your server is mysql 4.1.1 and lower (older), you couldn't have utf8 tables in  the first place.

Please let us know if it works out.
